    Being cynical, I'm thinking that was all for show. "See what a great teammate I am?". He tried to make himself the community face of the team when he hadn't earned it on the field. It all seemed so phony including the cocky, ridiculous face paint. Even though he's tearing up AAA pitching, if they bring him up and he strikes out in his first AB, he will crumble again.

    In 1982 they brought up Hrbek, Gaetti, Bush, Viola, Laudner and traded for Brunansky. And they took their lumps losing 102 games. Turned out good in the long run.

    Those early grand slams were the worst thing that could have happened to him. He started thinking of himself as a superstar and got cocky.. The pitching quickly adjusted to him and he's been lost ever since. One thing he should do is get rid of the face paint. It looks ridiculous on someone batting .167.

    I think his very early success (grand slams) went to his head and he began to think of himself as a superstar when he wasn't. He seems to see himself as the voice of the Twins organization and the leader of the team when he hasn't earned it on the field. That said, they should sign him to a 3-5 year contract and hope he develops a more mature attitude about himself. The shelves are bare and he's the best they've got.
