  1. Being cynical, I'm thinking that was all for show. "See what a great teammate I am?". He tried to make himself the community face of the team when he hadn't earned it on the field. It all seemed so phony including the cocky, ridiculous face paint. Even though he's tearing up AAA pitching, if they bring him up and he strikes out in his first AB, he will crumble again.
  2. In 1982 they brought up Hrbek, Gaetti, Bush, Viola, Laudner and traded for Brunansky. And they took their lumps losing 102 games. Turned out good in the long run.
  3. Classic Lewis. Look where that pitch is. And he swings at it every time. I don't think he can read the spin.
  4. So the Twins have changed the June 6 Royce Lewis Jersey handout to Byron Buxton t-shirt night. That signals that the face painter won't be back anytime soon.
  5. Relievers are always a crap shoot. They can go from good to bad and vice versa in a second.
  6. No. 1 - get him to stop trying to pull everything. No. 2 - get rid of the face paint. It looks as ridiculous on him as it does on JJ McCarthy. He's not good enough to be that cocky.
  7. This is his K in the 9th inning. Look where that pitch is. And he swings at that pitch EVERY TIME! Time to send him down. They'll save on war paint.
  8. Sano tried to hit every ball 5 miles. Lewis tries to pull everything.
  9. They probably won't send him down until after June 6 - Royce Lewis Jersey Day.
  10. Those early grand slams were the worst thing that could have happened to him. He started thinking of himself as a superstar and got cocky.. The pitching quickly adjusted to him and he's been lost ever since. One thing he should do is get rid of the face paint. It looks ridiculous on someone batting .167.
  11. Those grand slams were the worst thing that ever happened to him. He started thinking he was a superstar and got cocky. Pitchers adjusted to him and he's been clueless ever since. Get rid of the face paint and learn to hit.
  12. He doesn't learn. How long do they keep putting him out there? Dump him and save on face paint.
  13. Same with Lewis. They've learned how to pitch to him and he hasn't adjusted.
  14. I still remember his walkup music: Give me some men Who are stout-hearted men Who will fight For the rights They adore
  15. Interesting stats: High school: Around 0.0277% of high school baseball players will make it to the majors. College: Around 0.37% of college players make it to the majors. Drafted players: Approximately 17.6% of drafted and signed players go on to play in the majors. Minor leaguers: About 10% of minor leaguers make it to the major leagues, some for just one game. First round: 66% make to the majors Second round: The success rate drops to about 51% Third round: The success rate drops to about 40%
  16. I think his very early success (grand slams) went to his head and he began to think of himself as a superstar when he wasn't. He seems to see himself as the voice of the Twins organization and the leader of the team when he hasn't earned it on the field. That said, they should sign him to a 3-5 year contract and hope he develops a more mature attitude about himself. The shelves are bare and he's the best they've got.
