Well I was wrong about AAA. He's immediately added to the active roster taking Buxton's spot. Yikes.

Silver lining?

While I don't like Luplow signing...at all...Buxton gets some R&R time to hopefully help finish the season strong and get his "batting head" together? And now DH is open, at least temporarily, for a little more flexibility.

Wish it was someone else benefiting from the Buck IL stint. Like Williams, Larnach, Prato, maybe even Stevenson as possibilities?

good lord, why? Mancini has been awful this season and can't really play OF any longer. Luplow hasn't played enough in MLB to know if he's completely cooked even against lefties, but at least he can function in the OF.

not likely an impactful move, but I like it more than getting Mancini

I'd take Mancini over Luplow 100 times out of 100.

And Garlick over Luplow too.

Does Falvey think this is a face saving move? I certainly hope not. Sometimes I believe a 10 year old little leaguer could run this club better!

The most disappointing part of this post, Seth, is that Stewart was moved to the 60-day IL.  When is he eligible to return?  Wasn't he supposed to have an MRI or something a couple days ago?  I suspect this move suggests that it wasn't good.

He went on the IL June 27, so that’s something like Aug. 25, which is only three weeks from now. I don’t think this move means much in terms of rehab.

I’m not saying he won’t miss the rest of the year, but it’s doubtful he’d be back in three weeks even in a best-case scenario.

Why add a nobody with a .199 batting average. Bring up a rookie and give him a chance. Our front office just seems to have no clue about players. The rookie could not do much worse than .199 batting average.  Just a few days ago our front office said we didn't need to add a player and now we add a .199 batter. What a great front office the Twins have.

I guess the good news is that Buxton is going on IL. Hope he can come back a better player.

"Unable Unwilling to acquire a right-handed hitting outfielder at the trade deadline..."  (I fixed that for you!)

Buck to the DL (I assume)... finally..... Only a 2 months late to even the most casual of observer 🙄

As far as this 'move'.... I agree with Parfigliano..... it is embarrassing that the FO even wasted the time to think about this acquistion much less make it.

What a Sh- Show

I see it as a cheap roll-of-the-dice, easily dismissed as needed. Hopefully it’s them saying they need a placeholder for a few days until Kirilloff returns.

The FO needs to stop rolling dice and assess their internal assets properly.

This 'move' was absolutely ridiculous both for the short term and long term.

Was thinking about how often announcers say ‘with the top of the lineup coming up” the Minnesota Twins have to be the laughing stock of the entire league.   How many teams have such a joke of “top of the lineup” like the Twins.

I would rather they bring up Austin Martin to see what we got for Berrios but I am guessing they want to hide that gaffe.   He is 24 so time to sink or swim!  Or will he be another player that will be injury prone by the time (or if) he gets here.

We all know why he was signed and we all know the role he is going to play.

He will start against left handed starters and pinch hit for our left handed hitters late in the game when someone comes out of the bullpen with a glove on their right hand.

They have consistently adhered to this strategy to the point where nobody should be surprised by this signing.

This strategy followed faithfully has led to the Twins being currently ranked 30 out of 30 teams against left handed pitching.

If the strategy worked... you'd figure that they should be at least ranked 29 out of 30 teams against left handed pitching with all of the protection being offered to our left handed hitters. 😁

In the case of Ludlow... there is nothing he can do to keep a MLB job with the Twins. His sample size won't expand... he will be the first guy to create space when roster space is needed. He won't be enough to move the needle from 30th to 29th with limited AB's in the short time he will be here.

I'm all for giving someone else a shot. He won't be given a shot.

Mancini hasn’t hit since he left Baltimore. You think the Twins hitting coach can fix that? See Gallo, Joey. See Correa, Carlos.

Mancini's 2023 MLB OPS is .001 better than Luplow's 2022 MLB OPS.

Neither are very good, But I'd rather have Mancini.

This is the big acquisition to go against Lefties!  I see the rest of the league running up the red flag.  Pathetic.

I don’t see the problem with this guy! Not exciting, like a trade, granted. Toronto needs a guy to hit from both sides and we need a guy to just face LH pitching. They released him and he fits our need………he’s not a big power guy like “Joey” but his 24% strikeout rate against ALL pitching makes him attractive v. just LH pitching!……..Can release him in a heartbeat if that’s the next good move.

Jeffers - CC - Lewis - Farmer - Solano & Co. need to be able to hit LH pitching……..there’s not an acquisition of ONE guy in the game that can solve the putrid performances we’ve had v. lefties this year. This guy may or may not spark something?

.226/.337/.497 & .833 - what’s wrong with those numbers?? It’s .090 better OPS than Kepler & I assume his Slug% is better as well.

How many guys do we have that Slug over .450 & have an OPS over .800????

If that is your argument then you should be using the platoon split for hitting against LH pitching this year

Those would be wonderful numbers. Who had them this year in MLB?

Maybe I’ve errored but it’s what was shown above (by author) as his historical numbers v. LH pitching……assuming it’s correct. Appears they are career numbers over last 5 years.

They absolutely refuse to give the guys crushing AAA a chance. I'm 100% sure Julien would be there if polanco hadn't gotten hurt. Can't wait until they are fired.

It is perplexing and super frustrating.  Especially when we are constantly reading articles about the great prospects.  It is worth it to start seeing what we will have next year.
