Basically, since the Twins hosted the Yankees in mid-May, I checked out. I didn't follow the Twins even a bit. No box scores, no standings, no Twins Daily, no Gleeman and the Geek, nothing. It's actually surprisingly easy to forget this team exists when you don't make a point to follow them.

On Sunday, I checked back in. Based on a few things I overheard over the summer, my guess was that they were at least in Wild Card contention. And I guess they were, kinda.

Here's what I want to say to those who were here the whole time: I'm sorry. You deserve better. We all deserve better. And if this organizational incompetence is too much for you, if you want to finally break away, it is possible for months at a time, maybe even a whole season. I'm not a betting man, but based on what I've read and seen just this week, the future of this organization is not what one could call bright. This is a slow team with undisciplined young players and very little direction or fire. Sounds like the farm system isn't in great shape, either.

And while I used to push for a rebuild, I don't think I care enough at this point. I'm just planning on enjoying another Twins-free summer next year. Feel free to join me.

There was no reason for you to come back in September... if that is what you have to say.

You are talking to primarily adults who have the ability to assess their fandom on their own terms.

What is your expectation here? Are you some sort of self imagined Pied Piper? Is this some sort of I told you so post? Are you attempting absolution through a clumsy attempt at justification.

You gave up in May. Your Choice... Live with it.

I have no interest in your reply. The Twins will be my team next year and the years after. I don't need you around.

I don't know.  The fat lady is in her dressing room and getting ready, but I haven't heard her actually sing yet.  If the Twin sweep Baltimore, and Atlanta sweeps KC...........🤔

(I would add if Chicago sweeps Detroit, but I don't want to completely insult your intelligence 🤭)

If mice had wings they could fly.

If the twins keep rocco as manager they going need to redo the coaching staff but all the blame should go to ownership for cutting 30 million plus after having best season in history of the twins if they don't do anything in offseason better off getting rid of correa, buxton and company and start from scratch.

Watching that game you would never be able to guess which team had a playoff spot on the line! The Marlins were actively trying to win!

I am not sure I agree with that statement, if it wasn't for the horrible fielding the Twins wouldn't even have been in this game. Norby maybe at one of the worst games I have ever seen by a major league player. From K's 5 times to not scoring from second on the single in extra innings, in between was a throwing error and a half arse attempt at a foul ball. It even seemed the ump on Lee's bunt attempt was trying to help the Twins out, it was embarrassing night of baseball by both teams.

It was not good baseball. Miami did not play good baseball either. The Twins haven't played good baseball since mid-August. They spit up a comfortable lead in a very short period of time.

With that said... Here is your service time report brought to you by Red Lobster. We've been there.. done that.

Buxton - 7..160

Correa - 8.119

Larnach - 2.014

Lewis - 1.142

Santana - 13.115

Farmer - 5.129

Jeffers - 3.089

Castro - 4.017

Martin - 0.000

Well, that’s bad news.   The “resign” thing was tongue in cheek, btw; I know he’s not resigning.

If the Twins bring back Rocco next year I can't imagine how empty Target field will be. The Owner/FO has to do something to show the fans the end of the year was unacceptable if they want the fans to buy into the team next year. They can't bring back the same coach and players and say trust us things will be different this year. Swapping out a hitting or pitching coach isn't going to be enough.

It is almost like people forgot how horse crap this team was in 21 and 22 and after this year, somebody's head has to roll.

When I walk into a room... look around... listen to the conversations taking place.

I will choose to hang out with you.

I'm getting "I'm with Peter" shirts made.

Welp, that one puts a bow on the 2024 season. Fitting, in a sad way, that a team that was 0-26 with RISP in March and April, went 2-19 with RISP in a must-win game.

If Rocco's retained and they gut the rest of the coaching staff - it's just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic - but that's what I fully expect them to do.

Things a major league baseball player should know how to do:

Catch the ball (Jeffers), run the bases (Martin out at HP on a comebacker, Santana doubled-off 2B on a bunt attempt), bunt a baseball (Jeffers), hit a fly ball when needed (Lewis in the 11th, also swung at 2 pitches badly out of the zone in this PA); things learned in Little League. This was just last night. This also does not touch on a whole season of sending/holding runners at 3B (Watkins), leaving pitchers in too long/removing them too early (Baldelli) or basically not having a feel for how the game is going that night/day.

This team is fundamentally poor in all facets of the game (not just relying on the three true outcomes). 3 run HR's might get you Manager of the Year one year, but you actually have to manage (and your team has to execute) when you don't get them. (By the way Baldelli's Twins are 356-349 since the Bomba season of 2019)

Which would make them 320-325 since the covid season.  🥴

Different teams... Different Context. All you have to do is turn the game on and watch.

Is this a new one for our collective sports pain in Minnesota?  Always nice to diversify your collection!

Graphs always seem to work when you do a power point presentation to the board of directors.

As we look back on this 36 game stretch... It doesn't make a ton of sense to focus on one thing.

However... It sure looked like Santana broke for third base AFTER the bunt was caught.

I guess it's a teaching moment for the young man.

The only thing I can think of is maybe he thought it was going to get past Bride and so he wanted be ready to break to 3rd.   I don't know......I'm just grasping at straws......it was ugly.

I'm just gonna throw it out there. I think the Twins would have been a better and more together team if Jorge Polanco was still here (yes, he struggled in Seattle). But, betting on Julien was the first of many mistakes just like betting on Kirlloff to stay healthy... or keeping Farmer over Polanco.. signing Santana until he magically picked it up... Margot over Michael A Taylor.. bad decisions all around

I don't think getting rid of Max Kepler is smart either

If the Twins want Polanco back they should be able to sign him this offseason quite cheaply. He was bad this year at the plate and in the field but that hasn't stopped them from signing guys before. Michael A Taylor was also bad this season - cut by the Pirates.

I've been trying to be fair. Just like you thinking what he might have been thinking.

In fairness... It's a tough situation because if the ball finds grass it's a force play and he's got to scramble over to third.

Bride did have to jump for the ball.

However... I get lost when the replay sure seemed to suggest that he froze (which is the right thing to do when a bunt is in the air). But, then the ball was clearly caught... and then he broke for third.

That's the part of the whole thing that I just can't figure out.

Did I see it correctly? If I did... It was such an unbelievable mistake.
