  1. I think this may be a blessing in disguise. We tend to keep these dudes down too long and often (imo which is backed up by a few accounts of minor leaguers i've talked to) when we keep them down "too long" the player stagnates/gets disgruntled. The guy will either be ready or not, and it sux that it will take us until he's 24 to put him in that situation where he can figure it out to see if he belongs.
  2. I know it's a meme at this point for the twins: "The best trade deadline acquisitions we can make is getting guys back from injury or calling up prospects". However this is the rare year where this statement holds true. For once I'm relatively excited.
  3. All I ask is that we don't go heavy on lumbering corner outfielders who can really hit (their ceiling is 15 hrs) and can't field a lick.
  4. This take is on the same level as the Twins' biggest problem right now is that they have too much starting pitching.
  5. This is my main concern. Falvine had little success with these (except of course selling high on Cruz to acquire Ryan) and Zoll seems to be cut in their same cloth.
  6. I'm bummed but not surprised that this is the case. The farther we get away from highly prioritizing lumbering corner outfielders who's hit tools MIGHT translate high in drafts the better it will be.
  7. You're telling me, that this organization notorious for not developing their own starters, has yet again transformed a "once promising" starter into a middle reliever? I for one am shocked!
  8. There is no way the Cleveland finishes behind the twinz I'm afraid. They always find a way to out perform projections and what is supposed to happen from an analytics perspective.
  9. And this is the bummer of it all. I like that Falvine updated some things in the organization, but they were too much the polar opposite of Terry Ryan. The key is the split the difference and I don't think these guy's are it.
  10. If the twins finish fourth it will only be because the white sox young talent hasn't developed as much as they are hoping they have in the South side. Third place or higher will be quite unlikely unless Shelton is a magician.
  11. "the Twins did indeed rank first in the American League in fWAR at the position."......"They ranked fourth in FIP but 23rd in ERA and 25th in WPA." This is my biggest gripe with fWAR. They base wins above replacement on what "should" happen vs the actual results on the field. Also, many fans very much doubted the "Best Bullpen in Baseball" narrative pushed heavily on this site. I half expected another article touting this years crop of relievers, but alas, with the new front office there are no relationships formed and can thus be more honest.
  12. I wish the article would've touched on other similar promising rookies in recent years such as Miranda and Julien. Given our propensity of failing young hitters, I'm afraid that the chances of Keaschall's developing how we would like him to seem to be small.
  13. Agree 100%. Wallner (and Gallo before him) are excellent examples on how skewed OPS+ can be for boom or bust hitters. It gives way too much weight to XBHs, and subsequently it tricks stats like WAR into thinking that these players are more valuable than they are.
