Id rather have Julien up trying to figure it out than solano batting in the meat of the lineup

What is with the Solano hate? He went 2 for 5 with a walk, at least save the complaining for when he goes hitless.

Of course, Julien is the more exciting player with the brighter future, but if someone is going for him, it's Willi Castro, not Solano.

I see that now that the Astros can't bang on trash cans, they are sending spies to other teams to strike out and ground into double plays at the most crucial moments in the game.

Maybe we should bench Correa for this series? 😄

The pitching has been outstanding, but the Twins had better figure out how to score a few more runs--27 runs over seven games but 18 of those in two of the games. No runs driven in again today (except in the extra frame)...0-9 with runners in scoring position...maybe Correa shouldn't have given his bat away ;-)

More hits from Correa sure would be welcome!

Not sure why Rocco didn't start lefty bat Gordon(I can't believe I just said that,) but that line up against a righty pitcher doesn't look good.   We are going to have some frustrated starting pitchers who are going to lose a lot of 2-1 ball games if we don't get Polonco, Kiriloff, Kepler (can't believe I said that either,) Gallo, etc., back in a hurry!  Someone mentioned adding Wallner.....I would not be opposed to that.

Some people would rather be mad and look for the worst rather than enjoy a win, I guess?

Offense isn't where it needs to be yet, but we still had 11 hits and 4 BBs today and that's going to result in more runs most days. We're also missing our 3rd best player in Polanco, and Kirilloff is probably our 6th best on offense as well. Getting those guys back will make a difference.

Sonny Gray was really, really good today. He really had the Astros off balance, and it was great to see him missing bats like this. Rotation is really getting it done so far.

He didn't start Gordon because Urguidy has reverse splits.  The emphasis on RH bats was intentional.

Sonny was fantastic!!  13 ks 7 innings!!! Even though it’s only 7 games in this was huge important win especially not winning any games last year against Houston and getting out scored 21-3. Huge win!!! Let win another today and win series!!! Go twins!!!!

Our rotation is great, this the best I've seen Gray, he's a very smart SP & effecient going 7 with less than 100 pitches. Winning a walk off especially against HOU has to really boost the confidence of the team. Even so we out hit HOU 11-5, it shouldn't have been so tough. Great win at a great time with fans into the game, let's do it again today!

Exciting game. Couple of observations. The Twins are playing much cleaner baseball to start the season with no real bonehead plays in the field or on the bases. Miranda has had a couple bobbles but overall pretty good. Good to hear Polanco is playing again they need him up here soon.
is it just me or have we had some really poor home plate umpires this season?  In this game he missed a bunch of calls and wasn’t even consistent. In one of the broadcasts they mentioned that there are a large number of new umps this year.

The issue is the ugly line-up.....

I don’t get the dislike of Solano in some of these comments. He’s kept the line moving at some key points and provided good defense at first. Gotta have competent backups to win these close games.

He’s probably not an everyday player at 35 with limited power and so-so defense, but one can do worse than plug in a guy who has a fair to good chance of hitting singles against anybody

He batted 3rd the other day!!! And even having him bat 5th isn’t a good day

Miranda 3 hits with Solano behind him……Solano 2 hits……..Farmer 2 hits. Nothing wrong with that picture!

SSS but the Mets and the Giants are looking like they made the right move by not giving Correa all that cash. Three whiffs and GIDP today.  Very Sano like.

The Twins will definitely need more offense as the season moves forward, and Correa needs to be a significant part of that.

“Sano like”…..come on.

It’s the 7th game of 162….take a breath. We had 11 hits…..40 AB’s… .275 Avg. The defending Champions had 5 hits. It was 52F…..we’ll be OK.

Our veteran starting 2B isn’t playing - neither is our assumed, solid bat, starting 1B.

I'm 62 yrs old and it's kind of embarrassing how happy the 10th inning made me feel. Great win.

Don't be embarrassed, my friend.  Be grateful on both counts; for how you felt, and for the win.🙂

Didn't see the game but from the sound of it, they got lucky with the wild pitch in the 6th to score the tying run. Otherwise the game doesn't go into extras and they lose 1-0. Only scoring 3 runs, 1 on a wild pitch, on 11 Hits and 4 Walks isn't going to cut it most of the season.

I had a lost a needle in a haystack once. It was a special needle that I wanted back so my friends and I started looking for it. Couldn't find it until another friend walked up and asked what we were doing.

The new arriving friend just looked at the haystack and said there it is. Impressed by this and wanting to see if he could do it again. One of the group threw the needle back into the hay stack and once again... he stood back... looked and said there it is.

This friend clearly has a unique talent of finding needles in haystacks.

You have the same unique talent when it comes to finding the negative in a positive.

Best way to find a needle in a haystack is to set the hay on fire.

Some folks like to burn things to the ground.

This was a great start. A strong showing against the Astros and the #%&@anks could really build the confidence of this team. Oh and crush the Dirty Sox too.

Let me just get this of of the way for this season and I'll zip it the rest of the way. Could Justin Morneau please just stop talking for a few seconds here and there? I just cannot take it.

I did like Cory P.

LOL!

Solano gets two hits and a walk and Farmer knocks in the winning run.  Rocco could have ignored the splits and started Gordon because most of the time LH hit RH pitching better.  I guess that would look better to anyone not aware of Urquidy's splits.

Looks like Buxton is set in lead off for a while…tough to have Gallo and Kepler out today…curious when Kep will return.

Expecting Joe to dominate today

For some, the glass is half full, others it is half empty. Until this organization wins meaningful games in October, the glass is half empty. Until the FO proves it can construct a roster of players that can produce hits AND runs, the glass is half empty. Until the Manager can prove he knows how to use his players effectively every day without resting his better players needlessly, it is half empty. So far they have scored 2 runs or less in 4 of their 7 games. They have over $52M invested this year in Correa, Kepler and Gallo and they have a combined batting average of .166. Yes it is early, but until they get what they paid for, the glass is even less than half empty.

Yeah, there.is no BUT.  I can find you a 7 number (games played in this case) sample size to prove almost anything in this world.

I would bet my next paycheck that Correa ends the year with an OPS+ of 115 or better.  Oh, and great/elite defense.

Totally agree on the elite defense, Joe but the Twins did not give Correa all that cash for his glove.

And I REALLY hope you are right on the hitting picking up.  The Twins really need that.

I understand.

I remember this 80 degree day at the lake. We got about 10 walleye of decent size. We were all laughing, joking and having a good time.

I had bug spray on but I think I missed a spot around my ankle because a mosquito got me. 😄

Solano was 2 for 4 with a walk and run scored. Should have had him bat 3rd!

No way should he consistently bat 3rd or 5th… solano is a decent bench bat who should be batting 8 or 9 but not in the meat of the lineup

So you think solano is good enough to bat 3rd for the whole season??? Why did the reds let him walk?? Come on man
