Tlaker Verified Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 I can’t stand Rocco and his laptop….. but the fact that he pulled Joe tonight just solidified the fact that he doesn’t have a clue or a “human” feel for the game! Fire his ass immediately and start looking for someone else, cuz he’s not going to be better, ever! of course the FO isn’t any better so….

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Joe Ryan looked defeated in the dugout
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Funny how one of the points of analytics is to treat every player differently. Yet the magic number of 100 pitches is the bewitching number for all pitches.

Should have left it up to Ryan, his delivery seems almost effortless, I think he could have thrown 30 or 40 more pitches no problem

There isn't a maximum at this time of the year. The pitchers are instructed to pitch easy (88-92) and just throw strikes on the edges in a blowout. There is more push when the pitcher records the first out in the ninth inning.
Game7-91 Verified Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Interesting stuff on pitch counts, and what Nolan Ryan thought about it, love the quote, "You dont need a pitch count to let you know when its time to take the pitcher out, the hitters will let you know.." https://www.lonestarball.com/2009/4/26/855016/the-ongoing-mystery-of-nolan-ryan

How many Twins pitchers on the IL with arm problems anyway, he would have been just fine, he’s a grown man, not Rocco’s daughter, he wanted to stay in that should be good, Rocco should stick up for his players, yes even over the FO
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Combined no hitters carry the same joy as the gophers blowing out Western Illinois
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Ryan -you need a good 2 strike pitch, its your own issue

insagt1 Verified Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 This will be the most hollow win the of the season. No dramatics. Just pure love of baseball gone awry. I would be happy if every single 'new' stat with all the letters and numbers and +'s and -'s and pitch counts just disappeared. Give me the triple crown, the complete game, and the no-hitters by one pitcher no matter how many pitches it took. Please Twins broadcast crew, don't make a big deal out of this if it happens. Its not a big deal at all. Very disappointed.
RickOShea Verified Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 I'm not saying rocco's decision to pull ryan is right or wrong. But let's listen to his post game conference and see if he makes sense. Put your egos aside, and remember you're not managing this team. Be honest and see if your opinion changes or gets modified. But you have to be honest and think it out.

wabene Verified Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 I would've let him out for the 8th. Gosset threw 120 in his no hitter for the Wind Surge. Man did he look gassed at the end. Ryan didn't look tired at all.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Let’s cap Joe Ryan at 106 pitches but let Moran throw 40. Dohkay.

insagt1 Verified Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 two on...time for a 3 run tater. I want to see it. A combined no-hitter tonite would not make me happy at all.
