He hasn’t been added to the 40-man yet, but I’d think that those who are coming up in September have been told?

Bob Sacamano had it first!

Wasn’t exactly a closely held secret, though.

Gleeman says he immediately will become the hardest throwing pitcher to ever play for the Twins. I think he immediately becomes the player with the most awesome name to play for the Twins.

Wonder if Alcala is on his way too. Going to be exciting if these guys can come up and hold their own. Could be a major, major tilt in the Twins favor if they can come up, throw strikes, and limit the hiccups.

Good for Graterol! Frankly, I don't see this as moving the needle much for the Twins. I doubt he'll be called on in high leverage situations, and actually don't expect him to be lights out.

Agreed. But, having him up now, see how it goes. There is time for him to establish himself as a real option. And then again, maybe he goes all Luis Arraez on the league.

Could happen if they make a 40-man move to add him, i.e. a move of someone to the 60-day IL. But my guess is they will wait for calling up Alcala.

Better yet, don’t let him establish himself, and just spring him on the unsuspecting foes.

“Nope, we don’t know what this kid has, either. Only that he throws 102 if he wants. Good luck, Yankee batters!”

Last year on 9/1 the Twins called up Chris Gimenez, Johnny Field, Tyler Duffey, and Matt Belisle - and most notably not Byron Buxton,

What a difference a year makes!

Johnny Field. Wow. What happened to him?

The player needs to be on the 40 man roster by today.

Not necessarily.

"A player who doesn't meet said criteria for postseason eligibility can still be added to a team's roster in the postseason via petition to the Commissioner's Office if the player was in the organization on Aug. 31 and is replacing someone who is on the injured list and has served the minimum amount of time required for activation. (For example, a player on the 10-day injured list who has been on it for at least 10 days, or a player who has been on the 60-day injured list for at least 60 days.) Players who are acquired in September or after are ineligible."

MLB Trade Rumors is reporting that Graterol will be up after September 1. As noted above, he will probably still be eligible for postseason play. BTW, let's spell his last name correctly: GRATEROL, first name BRUSDAR.

I think he immediately becomes the player with the most awesome name to play for the Twins.

Kirby Puckett, Bombo Rivera, maybe Boof Bonser (although I could see opinion being divided on Boof, with half having him in the top 10 and half in the bottom 10.) There's no way Graterol beats Bombo, and Kirby had a Letterman Top 10 about his name.

Tough call on the nickname. Bruiser? Grat Cat? Bruno? Baldelli will probably go with Grats or something dead simple. It will be nice to see a Twins pitcher make the radar gun sputter sparks. May he break in a hundred catcher's mitts! May he follow through with his glove ready for a high-speed come-backer!

We're not asking much of this flame-throwing kid. Just be yourself, enjoy your cuppa coffee, dot the corners with 100 mph fastballs, and, of course, kill Superman.

Who do we have that fits this criteria? Astudillo? Buxton?

I'm not sure I understand your question ... are you asking if either of those could or would be moved to the 60-day IL? I'm guessing neither will be.

I am very excited to see him! Very hopeful this experience will help him better prepare for next season.

Very high Hope's for him and for his future. I'm just getting myself all wound up with hope he's going to be mowing guys down in the post season at this point.
