Time for Gibson to go/Gibson optioned to AAA

Oh, I'm sure the injury itself is real. The timing of Haley being affected by it enough to land on the DL seems awfully convenient IMO though.

Can't argue with that one bit...

I like this idea. Get another reliever up here until they need another starter, then pick from the bullpen to go down and bring Berrios up.

Agreed. But we all know it will be another old player with no future. I soooooo hour to be wrong

If it's someone on the 40 man, the choices are Haley being taken off the DL, Berrios, Mejia, Melotakis, Fernando Romero, Randy Rosario or Felix Jorge. Of those, only Berrios and Mejia are in AAA.

Twins option Kyle Gibson to AAA Rochester.  Good.  He seems to have handled it pretty well, credit to Kyle for that.

Hope he can get his stuff together and contribute at some point.  Will be fun to watch Berrios / Mejia (hopefully both) compete in this rotation.

Ooh, I could get behind this idea.

Why? Tepesch shouldn't be the 4th starter. He should be that warm body RP'er.

I think that's exactly what's wrong with him, mental toughness. That's easier to fix than garbage pitches. And I don't believe guys can't get better after 30, that's silly. 30 is the new 25.

Physically they may be able to get better at 30 but mentally is a stretch.  That's something that you either have at a young age or not.  Maybe we should start another thread about helicopter parenting.  Just kidding!

Trying to get someone to laugh...I feel bad for Kyle but he just doesn't seem to have it.  Could be mental, physical, whatever.  It's just like sales.  Perform or move on.  Sorry.

Could be another movie:  In stead of Glenngarry Glenn Ross:

1st place:  Starting at MLB level making $10mm year

2nd place:  AAA

3rd place:  Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Are you considering Tepesch a starter? I am not. Regardless of Saturday.

He is your RP'er (instead of calling another up) and Berrios should be the starter (including the Saturday game).

I'm on board with this, but it would be a pretty stunning reversal from the front office.

lets see what he does with Saturday first.

I mean you could be right... odds are not good that he sticks but with this pitching staff and new management anything could happen

The clinical definition of insanity is doing something over and over and expecting different results.  You know, like sending Kyle Gibson to the mound and expecting him to pitch well. Or more accurately, better than he has for nearly  the last 2 years.

Sorry, but I have to take issue.  This is NOT the clinical definition of insanity.  Using the same old cliche over and over, completely out of context, however...nothing personal, I know it's just a thing people post on message boards, parroted from overuse in news articles:

There's also this, more clinical take:

Ok, sorry yarn and all.  Cross born; I'll take my soapbox as I leave. Resume talking amongst yourselves.

PS:  Count me as somewhat surprised (and pleased) they acted decisively, and also mea culpa (did I use that right?) as far as I was one who thought Gibby would turn a corner with Castro caddying.  I.  Was.  Wrong.

If they want to stick to 4 days rest, I think they won't need a 5th starter until the 13th.

Of July or August?  Does it matter?

Why?

Why what? Tepesch is a 28 yr old non-prospect that is nothing more than a warm body.

And I don't need Saturday to confirm. Send up a real starting pitcher.

Thank goodness. Kyle seems like a good guy, but he's the most frustrating pitcher I've ever watched.

Looking forward to both Mejia and Berrios being in the rotation soon.

I wouldn't be surprised if he pitches well, but I'm wondering if there will be any restrictions with him having not pitched in so long.

I wouldn't be surprised if the call up is a position player, for a day or two, considering Buxton might be day to day and Sano will likely have to miss a game.

With Gibson finally gone, the next moves I would make are to DFA Tonkin, send Pressly down to find himself, and bring up Berrios, Melotakis and add either Hildenberger or Burdi.  Anyone know Shaggy's status these days?

Based on talent and need, I really don't think it's far fetched at all that we see both Berrios and Mejia get at least half a season in the Twins rotation this season.

I also think it's pretty reasonable to see 1, 2 or all 3 of Chargois, Burdi and Melotakis from July on. A healthy Chargois possibly in June.

Moderator's note: I needed to remove several posts that went off on a tangent concerning moderation. That kind of side-discussion is never appropriate in the baseball threads. No "warning points" were handed out, I just cleared out the distraction (leaving this as a distraction instead, unfortunately, but people then wonder where their posts went). As a reminder, please either use the Report button if you want the moderators to take a look at a questionable post, or open a thread in the Questions About MinnCentric forum area to discuss something, or contact an owner or moderator by PM. This is covered in the site's Comment Policy, which most of you know about already.

I think Pressly stays, sorry folks.  Tonkin's next out the door and I'm guessing he's as close as Gibson was going into this morning.  I don't know much about the relievers we have down in AAA, but I'd certainly like a look.  Hey, how about the Duff Man?  Pretty good so far.  The bullpen hasn't been a total disaster, for what it's worth.

Next up would logically be Trevor Hildenberger or Mason Melotakis.

Wait what? Strategic use of the 40 man you say? What is that?.....

Brock is currently unavailable to receive love PM's, his inbox is already full of them. Alternatively you can send them to me, as I have ample space available!

On-topic, I find it to be of no small coincidence that the very week I change my avatar from the "Gibson Girl," Kyle finds himself on a plane to Whereeversville AAA. You're welcome.
