The rotation is bonkers. I have no friggin' idea who is even on the roster at this point or when they pitch.

Please, call up Mejia. Or Berrios. Whatever. Give us something to cling to here.

The whole staff is bonkers. There isn't even a clear reliever to call up.

If they want to stick to 4 days rest, I think they won't need a 5th starter until the 13th.

That assumes Boshers can come back since his last call up was to cover a bereavement leave.

I don't think they can because they didn't HAVE to send him down.  They could have sent anyone down.

As I said, it could be that Justin Haley finds a miracle cure for his elbow "impingement".  I personally would call up Trevor Hildenberger, call up Adrianza and DFA Danny Santana.  But that's just me.

I think that's exactly what's wrong with him, mental toughness. That's easier to fix than garbage pitches. And I don't believe guys can't get better after 30, that's silly. 30 is the new 25.

I personally think that the mental toughness is a lot harder to fix than the pitches.

I'm not carrying water for anyone, I'm simply saying that if you have to pay a guy either way and your pitching depth is comically bad, you don't throw away any arms. Get them out of the rotation, sure, but don't throw them away.

I agree, the Twins currently have no arms that are ready for anything outside of Berrios and Mejia.  Have Gibson start in AAA or even AA who cares.  To me he is just simply injury insurance for the rest of the year.  He will most likely be back because you know some pitcher is going to go down with some sort of injury this year.  But he will be back for mop up and the Twins will need to make a move or two at the deadline or do a very good job in the draft in June.

He's 30, he's not going to get better. His success before was years ago and pretty limited anyways.

Bullpen or bust. No more starts for this guy, doesn't have the mental make up either.

Im not a fan of these kind of takes, its impossible to judge that from our pov of these situations.

I'm not saying give him innings in MLB, try to coach him right in AAA. He has some nice pitches, definately has had MLB success in the past. But please get him off the 25 ASAP.

Well there has been a lot of talk that he ignores the coaches and does things his way??

I personally think Gibson's problems are being unable to locate his pitches. His G/F ratio has trended the wrong way two years running. He has to keep the ball down to have any chance because he simply does not have "blow it past 'em" stuff. He KNOWS he has to keep the ball down. But he has been unable to do it consistently for nearly two years.

I like this idea.  Get another reliever up here until they need another starter, then pick from the bullpen to go down and bring Berrios up.

IF that's the case, then he's made his own bed and will have to lie in it in the minors for a while. I hope it isn't true and he can get his act together.

Gibson has like a 6.30 era these last two years now.

He's 30

Cut him and don't look back. Giving innings to terrible pitchers who have no upside is dumb when you are rebuilding.

Glad to see Falvey finally logged into his TwinsDaily account and took my much needed advice.

Better late than never!

I wish gibson the best of luck when he lands somewhere else, but unless he suddenly turns into cliff Lee out of nowhere I don't want to see him pitch for this club again.

I actually agree with this. What I meant was that you can at least have the possibility of fixing a head case. You just can't add 5 mph to a fastball or 6 inches to a breaking ball if they're not good to start.

I can assure you that elbow impingement is an actual entity that is somewhat common in pitchers, though not commonly reported.

Yeah, if they can get him to pitch with his left hand like Cliff Lee he might be worth something?? :)

Oh, I'm sure the injury itself is real. The timing of Haley being affected by it enough to land on the DL seems awfully convenient IMO though.

Are you considering Tepesch a starter? I am not. Regardless of Saturday.

He is your RP'er (instead of calling another up) and Berrios should be the starter (including the Saturday game).

Sadly true. Lots of pitchers in the minors have the raw stuff to make it happen, but they lack that one important pitch...between the ears. Could be that Kyle Gibson just doesn't have that bit of mean streak that it takes to mow down one batter after another. He does appear to have the pitching repertoire.

I'd say this is his last chance to find his game in AAA. Otherwise, he needs a fresh start with another organization.
