Topa DFA'd.    Now a decision on Jeffers as if we need a roster spot for Jackson someone needs to be removed from 40 man

There are guys on the 10 and 15 day IL that could be moved to the 60 day IL...

Huh? He's a liability offensively and defensively.

OK  Sorry. I misunderstood. I guess Royce was demoted to improve the Twins team and to give Royce a chance to learn how to hit again int he minor leagues where there is less pressure on him to produce.

Rumor from the Skor North Twins Show is that Jeffers suffered from a fractured hamate bone.  Jackson will be called up today.  More 40-man moves coming.

I gotta admit, it's rare for me to read a word I don't know, especially on a site like this.  Maybe Britt Robson.  To pat myself on the back, I did guess the meaning if was an actual word -- awkwardly climb.  Mostly because I couldn't imagine anything else given the use of "perch" and "ledge" and "Topa."

I once was Topa, clambering to to get up a cliff to safety until I finally decided I wasn't going to make it and this was going to be the end.  Only...literally, unlike Topa.  As I started to slide to my death, a woman named Stephanie saved me by cupping her hands and catching my foot just long enough for me to find a better foothold and path to the top.  Topa could have used a Stephanie.  Maybe his Stephanie is called St. Paul.

DFA'd Topa so they can pick up Chapman while they're in Boston, right? Right?

Bowman would be ok..

Still happening. He will just be in St Paul unless they call him up after a week.

Just got a recap of all of the corresponding moves made today:

Lewis optioned to St. Paul.

Topa DFA'd off of the roster.

Jeffers put on the IL with a hamate bone fracture.

Acton put on the 60-Day IL

Jackson being called up to replace Jeffers.

Arcia called up to replace Lewis.

Adams being recalled taking Topa's spot.

Analyis:  Bowman looking more likely to just be released from minor league contract.  Still holding out on Buxton to see if he will come back or will IL him prior to going to Boston.

Nice to see Lewis finally get demoted, I'm not sure what took them so long. For a team that seems to think they are competing and calling up a vet like Arcia over Culpepper, they sure waited a long time watching Lewis continually harm the team time and time again. I get why they are waiting on Culpepper, he's doing fine at AAA but isn't ready yet. We should see him later in the season. I'm not convinced Arcia does much at the plate, his AAA hitting reminds me of when we had to call up Tim Beckham when he had an OPS of > 1.000, just for him to hit .080 in the majors.

Rough news on Jeffers. I thought Caratini would be a good backup plan in case anything happened to him before the season started, but now he's hitting like Vazquez last year, and the Caratini / Jackson combo is going to be rough offensively. Not many teams have much catching depth.

And the folks who wanted Topa DFA'd after Spring Training were right. ERA of 8, WHIP of 2, and he has the most appearances for pitchers on the team... he doesn't look like the same pitcher he was last year. But that should have been in consideration for a 35 year old with a track record of 2 decent years as a middle reliever. This guy was expected to be a high leverage reliever for us coming out of Spring Training!

Since it's Arcia coming up instead of Culpepper, I wonder if the FO thinks a week or 2 hitting inferior AAA pitching is going to fix Royce?

More likely they hope Arcia can perform well enough against MLB pitching that there will be interest at the deadline. I expect another mass exodus provided anyone is playing well enough to have a market.

A good call - hopefully this can help get his focus back to where it needs to be for major league play. And to stop those dang reaches!

Tough one. Hate to see Lewis getting sent down, but there was little choice left. Sending him out to flail away wasn't doing him any good and it certainly wasn't good for the team for multiple reasons.

Dreadful news about Jeffers, who was having a great season. What a bummer. Guess we'll what what Alex Jackson can do for us.

Glad they DFA'd Topa. I wasn't sure they would; they have historically given veterans a lot of rope, but yeesh Topa has looked bad lately. Adams isn't exactly exciting but he should be more competent and at least has some upside potential.

Arcia should add some consistency to the infield, and I wonder if we're going to see Kreidler playing more outfield? Would still really like Rodriguez to get healthy and get up here. To me, the clock is ticking on Outman now. He's going to get some additional opportunities and if he can't do anything with them then he should get the DFA as soon as Rodriguez is ready...and if not him then give Mendez a shot if he stays on a roll.

No more scholarships.
