Good riddance. So tired of watching his half-hearted swings and his coasting while running the bases.  Can't imagine his lack of hustle played well in the clubhouse.

I'm sure he's a nice guy.  But he was linked to the cheating with the Astros and he never lived up to the hype of his contract, but hey who would turn down that kinda money, i wouldn't.

According to CBS Sports --

"Now 30, Correa is having the worst season of his career, slashing .267/.319/.386 with seven home runs in 93 games. Between that and declining defense, he is a 0.1 WAR player this year. Correa is owed $92 million from 2026-28 with four club options covering 2029-32. It is unclear whether the Twins ate any money to facilitate the trade."

I would guess that the Twins will be eating at least $30 million of his future compensation, and I am OK with that.

Not to mention his infuriating hitting into double plays.  He was virtually a black hole in the lineup from April through May and then from August to September most years.  Way too streaky offensively.  He was an absolute rally killer and momentum buster in the lineup for much of his time here aside from the occasional hot streaks.

Sounds like Correa asked to be traded back to Houston as the team weren't heading in the direction he wanted. Cannot blame him in the slightest - the man's a winner.

To me, a selloff like this is indicative of a massive failure in the FO. This is a sad day in Twins' history.

They can finish the sell of the team now. They minimized the payroll and cleared some payroll space. The Pollads don't get any money back. The new owners can come in and won't have to deal with Correa boat anchor.

Houston called the Twins. Correa said he would waive his no trade if it meant a chance to go back to Houston. Wife is from there, many friends and family, it's his first organization, etc.

I believe he even quoted he wanted to stay with the Twins and help them won, but for Houston he would waive his clause. Which he did.

Look, I'm in favor of this. I advocated for this. BUT ... it does stink, too. I also had some hope that Correa signing meant a new era of Twins baseball. But ownership refused to take the next step in bolstering the roster around him, and the FO let an underachieving manager stay too long in the dugout.

No vision. No title run. No more Correa. Okay, fine. Let a new era of Twins baseball begin.

It's a blessing in disguise really.  I thought the Twins were gonna be stuck with that albatross contract until 2028.  His production never was impressive.

Yes, but we've had many sad days in three of the last four years. The collapses in those years were also indicative of massive failure. But better to rebuild than to keep failing to meet expectations over and over and over.

I really don't think the Twins would have beaten the Blue Jays in the playoffs without him. If I thought they'd be in the playoffs any time in the near future, I'd be really ticked off.

I said time and time again, when you get in bed with Scott Boras, it's all bad news in the end.  Lewis will be gone in 1-2 years, Jeffers at the end of his team control (or as a rental to some team), and Jenkins within six years of his first MLB AB.

Curious, but did you think any of these players would stay if they had a different agent. Boras works FOR his clients. The players are not stupid much less slaves. They make their own determinations.

Here's one long time suffering Twins fan who gives a big thumbs up for Falvey(something I rarely have done).  Here's why:

1. The Twins were toast this year.  With the team for sale, with the big 3 reduced to one,  with the injury to Lopez(last year Ryan's injury cost them a playoff berth), and failure of secondary starters like Larnach, Wallner, Julian, et.al. to step up, the Twins are a model of mediocrity.  And their record shows that.  Hence, the massive selloff!

2. Giving up on Correa accomplished several things: 1.) made a sale much more likely; 2.) opened up the SS position for younger guys like Lee. Culpepper to sink or swim; and 3) leads to a badly needed rebuild instead of retooling a club that has been in a state of decline.

3.  Trading Duran for two high prospects bolsters two positions of weakness - SP and C.  Sure, no guarantees but even if one of the former Phils becomes a regular, this is a big win going forward.

4. Improving our prospect list by trading Bader, (presumably Coulombe) and Paddack is positive in that it increases the odds that the ML lineup will be bolstered in years to come.  It's hard to say that about the Stewart trade but if the Twins can help Outman regain his rookie form, again, a big win.

Falvey could have sat on his hands this July, but he made some bold moves that give me more hope for a return to contention.  The likelihood is he won't be around for long, but no one can accuse him of being risk adverse.  I, for one, feel more hope for the future than I did several days ago.  That's a good thing, in my estimation!

Young, durable and controllable everyday players are not available to hire.

They aren't signing 3 young free agents for 10 million each! There aren't even three available, and any good FA is going to cost 15-25 million a year.

I think this is spot on. My guess is that Houston called and he originally was unsure. Then he saw the team stumble into and out of the AS break, looked around and asked to go. He's 30, 31 in September, and in decline. He wants to go to a competitive team to finish his career.  Can't blame him.
