Relax. I'm on board as a silent partner and, don't wanna brag, but I bring another 2 or 3 thousand liquid cash to the table.

Provided, of course, Mrs Chief doesn't catch wind of this.

Manny Margot's days as a Twin may not be over with that kind of dough to throw around...

Very early days, but this would be a complete gamechanger for the Twins franchise. They pretty much check every box for ideal owners - deep pockets and ambitions to match.

Too early to get too excited about this, but promising signs.

Very early…for us.  Not early for them.

Not sure if it will be a good thing for them to be largely absentee, as I believe they reside in the Phx area.  Even with private jets, a 162 flights a year is a lot; or if they do the snow bird thing, that won't be for the whole season given the NBA playoff/MLB overlap in early summer.

They aren’t likely to go on the road in any case and the Minnesota to Arizona snowbird path is like a super highway.  It’s almost the most likely combination ever.  No idea how tied they are to Phoenix but a spring training swap might make a lot of sense.  Synergies and all that.

Matt Ishbia live in or around Pontiac Michigan His main company United Wholesale Mortgage is in Pontiac Michigan.  He grew up there and went to college there.  He has college team mates work for him there too.

Forbes lists Justin at $4.9B net worth.  That seems actually a bit light in this day and age, where you don't want a market downturn to suddenly cause team management to sell assets or whatever because the owner's wealth is highly leveraged. Still, it's a good start - a billion here and a billion there and pretty soon you're talking real money. 😀

Thank you, Senator Dirksen.

Now -- I welcome some clarity about the commitment the Twins have to remain in Minnesota per the Target Field lease and whether a change in ownership could change that. I default to an expectation that a new owner would move the team, though fan interest could increase considerably with a new owner.

Hope the Pohlads would be as excited as everyone else & be very reasonable in their dealings. A change can't come quick enough. & hope that the brothers know more about baseball than the Pohlads.

That would be awesome.  Let's bring Spring Training back to Tucson!

Their firm is out of Chicago. I'm guessing they're there more than Phoenix.

Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul newspaper wrote an article. .... the Twins are only halfway through their lease. The team must play their home games at Target Field. The Twins were forced, against their will, to honor the Metrodome lease by the courts. No, an owner cannot just break the lease. The baseball club ultimately answers to MLB. The team could move after the thirty year lease expires. Look online and read up on it.

This is such a Minnesota thing. Minnesotans need to get over their lack of trust of outsiders. It's so off-putting and actually offensive to people that move to Minnesota.

I’m not saying he won’t be a good owner but if he spent his whole life rooting for the Tigers….. and I don’t live in Minnesota anymore.  I live 10 miles from Angels stadium.

That's where his brother comes in most likely as a minority owner.

To be honest I would be happy with a 150-160M payroll. You build the team the right way and flip assets to keep the cycle going.

There's no way any new owner spends like LA or NY. They can only do it because of their massive TV deals.

Agreed mostly. The large uproar amongst the fans against the  Pohalds wasn't really overwhelming until they "right sized" their business right when modest investment would have paid huge dividends, showing their true colors.

No one should really try to spend like the NY or LA franchises. Everyone's mostly aware and OK with the market discrepancies existent in the world. But as long as the owner WANTS to win and is willing to invest in it, it's evident to the fans.

That being said, these guys could try to spend like the big boys and honestly isn't a terrible business venture, trying to build a Midwest dynasty to turn a 1.5 B asset into the Cardinals (currently 2.5 B). There's real investment opportunity there if you actually build a winner.

You'll be shocked to learn very few players play for their childhood favorite team and it's never an issue.

Here's an interesting interview about his background.  Played baseball coming up...  also has a team in Nashville and ties all over so I don't see an obvious relocation risk.

And here I thought billionaires became billionaires by only investing in the city and state they were born in. We should probably send Barney Fife over to the brothers' office to make sure this outsider doesn't bring any trouble to town.

Notoriously so. People that move to Minnesota famously have a hard time finding community.

Move there?  I thought people just went in the summer to fish.

Brothers so better give Barney 2 bullets.
