Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 After playing 18 innings yesterday, along with Kyle Gibson getting some in-game work, it will be a surprise to no one that the Twins are adding a pitcher. I can confirm that Lewis Thorpe has been called up to the Twins. I don't know a corresponding move at this time. I don't know if he will be making a start one of these games in Chicago. Could push a couple of guys back. Could be someone ready for long relief if needed the first couple of games of the series. It marks the first promotion to the big leagues for the Lefty from Melbourne. UPDATE: Lewis Thorpe up. Zack Littell down. Eddie Rosario to the IL. Ehire Adrianza activated. https://twitter.com/SethTweets/status/1144688115002630144
rdehring Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 That's fantastic news, Seth. Maybe the kid will be able to overcome the jitters and do better than the Future's game last year. Will be fun to be able to see him in action. If he can stay away from those bombs, his strikeouts should play in Chicago. The only move I can see that logical, is sending Littell back to Rochester.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 !!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s me, excited! Dang, I’m out of town, too.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Oh, but please don’t say the corresponding move is Rosario to the IL.
Blake Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Oh, but please don’t say the corresponding move is Rosario to the IL.Rosario to the IL. (no idea and thought it worth risking the "Carole death ray stare")
nater79a Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 I wonder if Elvis Martinez, the Twins translator, can also speak Aussie? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
alarp33 Provisional Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Oh, but please don’t say the corresponding move is Rosario to the IL. The Twins are not going to go to a 2 man bench
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Congratulations and good luck to him!
SpicyGarvSauce Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Yeah, probably Littell. Which is a bummer, as I have high hopes for him.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Rosario to the IL. (no idea and thought it worth risking the "Carole death ray stare") You didn't say "the corresponding move is"... I don't know if that exempts ya from the death stare or not. To be fair, i think the whole team is going to the IL... more specifically, Chicago, as that is where the White Sox play. And with Thorpe, maybe we got a full tank of gas (to go with half a pack of smokes and mirrors... i mean sunglasses) Hit it! Yeah, good luck to Thorpe and LaMonte!
darin617 Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Oh, but please don’t say the corresponding move is Rosario to the IL. I feel they don't want to IL him with the All Star game so close. And unless they are hit with a roster crunch there's no reason to put him on.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 28, 2019 Author Posted June 28, 2019 Updated... This has now been confirmed by the Twins. Thorpe up. Littell down. Rosario to the IL. Adrianza activated.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Oh, but please don’t say the corresponding move is Rosario to the IL.We know who to blame, now don't we?
HawksNest Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 So uh....what's the deal with Buxton? Anyone else getting a tiny bit concerned?
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 So uh....what's the deal with Buxton? Anyone else getting a tiny bit concerned?quite.
nater79a Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Yeah, probably Littell. Which is a bummer, as I have high hopes for him. Have to believe Littell will be back soon. Emergency situation. Just need a spot right now.
Alex Schieferdecker Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Given Littell's seemingly permanent move to the bullpen, and the decent outings that Stewart, Poppen, and Eades have all had in recent relief, what's the prospectus on moving Thorpe there? Are people calling for it as they were with Littell, and have been to some degree with others? As a lefty with high strikeout numbers, maybe he could be particularly useful there...
Rosterman Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Can Sano please step up. Okay, Jake Cave is totally lost at the plate, too. Do we see LaMonte Wade starting his first game tonight? You gotta put Arraez in the lineup, too!
Thegrin Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Since the 17 inning game, Littell had been dang near perfect. He'll be back.
Tomj14 Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 quite.Work with a guy who has a relative with the Twins, and he tells me they are trying to hold him out until the all star game, maybe do a little rehab over the break?
Shaitan Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 So uh....what's the deal with Buxton? Anyone else getting a tiny bit concerned?Yes, but only a tiny bit. The report a couple days was good (taking swings, feeling better). He's not sitting around, which is a good sign. I'm more concerned about him losing his mojo at the plate after not playing for so long.

That was a few days ago - we haven't heard anything since on Buxton's progress and how the days of hitting went. Definitely worrisome, tbh. Have to imagine that Rosario is out until the AS break. What about Marwin? Haven't heard a word on him either.
Blake Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 We know who to blame, now don't we?Oh, thanks, way to hide behind me, who took the initial brunt of the death stare!

bighat Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 And no Buxton. No updates in the last 24 hours on Bux - latest news posted yesterday is that he's "close to returning". Whatever that means. Twins depth will again be tested. Luckily we've got some resources and good backups. But now even the backups have been getting hurt! Honestly I think the Twins are being super conservative with so many of these guys. Management's looking at that big lead in the central and getting guys extra rest. Let's hope this strategy works and lots of these guys look fresh in September.
rdehring Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Can the Twins now field a lineup with the majority players from Rochester? Thanks for adding the whatever they are called.
laloesch Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 I hope he gets a chance to start at some point. I have been a believer in Thorpe for a while.
Blake Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Can the Twins now field a lineup with the majority players from Rochester? Thanks for adding the whatever they are called.I'm trying to imagine the Sox grumbling, after they lose, "Our front line players lost to their backups!"
howeda7 Verified Member Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 Oh, but please don’t say the corresponding move is Rosario to the IL.It's just as well. 9 days til the All-star break. Let him come back healthy afterwards.
