Please face reality and bring up some youngsters and get them some MLB experience.

They were dreaming at the trade deadline, and now they must wake up.  Too late to recoup the lost assets for players like Jeffers who will now disappear with no compensation, but at least don't fall into the sunk cost fallacy and keep running these aging no-hope Vets out there.

Play for 2027 now.

Will there be a 2027 season? I heard that players on the 40 man roster are locked out if there's a strike. Can't play in the minors.

Buxton absent or awful since June 15. There’s a reason. There’s been a reason virtually every single season of his career. And yet it continues to be an excuse for the team struggling down the stretch every single year. Insanity.

And the thought they should move on is ridiculed, over and over. They literally have to have two CF on the roster, which they fail to do every year.

Theo Tollefson:

Catcher Alex Jackson has cleared through waivers with the Twins and has been out righted to Triple-A St. Paul.

That's shocking, given the number of marginal catchers getting traded at the deadline to be backups I figured he would get snapped up.

Obviously genius timing by Zoll…

I don't understand how this can be, I have been basically shouted at for the last two weeks how what a colossal failure it would be to put him on waivers and he would be snapped up in minutes.  Maybe baseball people know more than others on here after all.

The good news is we now have our journeyman 3rd catcher in case of injury that I said would be available.

A little good news

Also, when was the last time Buck grounded into a double play? At least a year? Wasn’t even that close either…definitely concerning.

May 29th and June 10th of this season...

It feels like it’s over. Phillies were reeling before this and they came in and took it to us. Sad. Worst loss of the season.

Nick Nelson:

The Twins need to play at a 100-win pace in the final 6 weeks to finish above .500.

It's over.

Weeks of fear..... And now this.

I didn’t care how they got down to two catchers.

But as someone who isn’t a huge Caratini guy, I think as hoping they’d dangle him on the wire just to see what happened.

Twins might never buy at a deadline again the way they have collapsed . Pretty pathetic that they couldn't hold a 5-0 lead but I guess we will see if this is when they fully fold or do they somehow get back in the wild card conversation.

It might be over except for an improbable run, but their current record is 60-65.

To get to 500 they need to go 21-16 over the next 37 games.   That is a .568 win percentage, or a 92 win pace.

As Pat Reusse says - he's got the bad skeleton. One wrong move and he's hurt.

But, to get over .500, which was the point, they’d have to play .594.

After Kody’s ultimate grand slam, Shelty apparently joked to the beat writers, “That’ll f*^% up your game stories.”

Well, Skip…definitely some re-writing going on this afternoon.

That's a beautiful dream, friend. i won't burst that bubble for you.

Sadly, the team will do that for you soon enough.

They've played .500 ball for, what, four games this year? Lots of carts being put in front a lot of horses.

It's not going to happen.

Caratini had to leave the game against CLE on July 22 after fouling a ball off his knee.  Since that night he's 8-45 (14 K/4BB) with a .489 OPS.  He hadn't been setting the world on fire before that, but he was at least near his season average with a .642 OPS in the 14 games leading up to it.  So he should probably have been sent to the IL at some point, certainly after the deadline, to partially solve the three catcher conundrum.

EDIT: It's worth pointing out that even with Caratini hobbled Alex Jackson only caught one inning since July 22 while playing two games at 1B and pinch running twice for Josh Bell at DH.  Hard to tell what is going on in there sometimes.

Wondered about whether Caratini was injured. He sure has not looked ok since July 22. Today was probably a telling point. The Phillies were giving Caratini a base in the 9th inning and he didn't run, even when Duran threw a wild pitch that rolled about 60 feet away. Victor just looks hurt recently.

He wasn't one of the catchers anyone made a tempting offer on.  That should tell us something.

Entering the post-season at a 100-win pace would be the ideal momentum.

Although i didnt predict a sweep by the Phillies, I am not surprised.  They hard a chance on Sunday as tge Phillies were willing to give thr game to the Twins by starting Painter.  But sheltons misuse of the Bullpen Saturday came back in part to bite theme on Sunday.  Twins need to play the young players now and see what they can do.  Any continued mis calculations about their playoff contention need to be dumped.  Even if they somehow male the playoffs it doesnt make them a contender.

There are 3 teams in the entire 15-team league that are not in the wild card conversation for that last spot…if that’s what you’re into. And none of them are very good…or even good at all.

Or maybe parity has come to baseball.

Pretty much every team has holes that bring their team an even record. A surprise is that the Yankees have held their ground without some key players.
