Envisioning the 2027 Twins Starting Lineup
90stwinskid replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would love to have a "set it and forget it" lineup someday. This feels somewhat more attainable with the players on this list, which is exciting to me. Whether it actually happens in practice is another thing... Clemens, Lewis, and Caratini feel like the biggest liabilities. While Clemens and Caratini can be placeholders for Houston and Lackey (respectively), it feels like we're stuck with Lewis until he's traded or let go. Curious to see how the FO treats him moving forward.- 165 replies

Good for Zebby. Jenkins looks good. Culpepper seems to have the arm for 3rd. Not sure where Lee goes -- could be a 2b with the occasional start at 3rd? Houston might be the only infielder with a fixed position every day once he's called up. We'll see. Jenkins era: 1-2 Post-deadline: 9-15 (ugh) Overall: 65-72 (more ugh)

White Sox (Castillo) vs Twins (Kremer): 8/28/26, 7:10pm

Great response after the early deficit. Got chills when Jenkins came up. Was happy to see the crowd give him all the love. Wish I was there! -

Agreed. One could argue that the FO believed they were trying to give the team a chance by buying at the deadline. We can argue about whether that it was realistic that they would actually be competitive (I see arguments for and against), but I appreciate their willingness to mildly buy, especially with everything that's transpired the past 2 seasons. Flip a couple of bad individual performances (i.e. Keaschall and Morris), and our record could be a couple wins better. That said, this team still has glaring holes, and it was going to be difficult to fix those in the middle of the season (without mortgaging the future, at least).

Emmanuel Rodriguez Has Waited Long Enough
90stwinskid replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
ERod and Jenkins might be interchangeable for me in terms of when they're called up, but I agree with all the sentiments. Let the kids play. -
This does not feel like a team that deserves to be in the playoffs, let alone be successful in the playoffs. It ain't over till it's over... But it sure feels like it's over now. Post-deadline: 8-13 Overall: 64-70

Agreed. I think that to some extent, this team has already shown that there are pieces that belong on a playoff-caliber roster, but not enough pieces to make a core - yet. I'm no GM or baseball executive, but I feel like they already have a lot of data/information around whom (or what player types) they might want to extend internally or target in FA, regardless of whether we make the postseason. We'll see how it all shakes out this offseason! (Lockout notwithstanding...)

Curious to what extent Keaschall would improve defensively if you just put him in the same outfield spot every day. He might not ever be excellent or even good, but is there even a chance that he has at least neutral value defensively? If he can make it as a 4th outfielder type and spend most of his time at DH, he definitely has a place on this team, imo. I hope he sticks around. Love the hustle and the locks. 😎
