Hip Sends Byron Buxton Back To Twins' Injured List
Sampson5 replied to Steve Drumwright's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Called up the saints worst hitter lmao if being on the 40 is today's excuse for refusing to call up a good player fedko and wallner on the 40 and both actually playing well enough to earn the call up . Laughable that gray played terrible since the demotion and he's back in the majors -
Does feel likely he's moved but don't think it's for sure the Yankees he's the best chip they are willing to move that can get them major league pitching back without trading a top prospect which don't think they wanna do . Sure yanks have pieces to get him but so does every other contender who wants a catcher at the deadline feel like they'd probably try their best to send him to a team they won't have to play if they make the playoffs
-
Why not do both add a few arms to help the bullpen be more reliable so they have a chance but also ship out a piece or 2 to free up abs for your top prospects who are ready to be called up to the majors as soon as a everyday role is open for them . Rays do it all the time and still go on playoff runs pretty much every year

Look forward to Tait getting higher in the minors so we can actually see what the defense looks like when the pitchers are better or at least less wild strike throwing wise . Could help him eventually being on a team with lackey who can give him some pointers on defense. Worst case he's a dh/ 1st baseman who hits 30 homers but can also catch in a pinch similar to ben rice . His power alone is making him a mlb regular in a few years .

Interested to see what they qualify as buying is it just add a high leverage reliever ? Or is it a reliever and a starter . Still think they move one of the catchers unless they just plan on eventually just dfa Jackson when they eventually decide to call up culpepper to play SS while could be the plan . Wouldn't say this means they aren't trading jeffers tho he's the best chip to actually get a good pitcher assuming they aren't trading a top prospect which I doubt they do
-
Id take a swing on volpe improving with less pressure but if your doing that I wouldn't also want a risky reliever who's been terrible this year gotta be at least 1 for sure piece coming back imo

Minnesota Twins 2026 Trade Deadline Superlatives
Sampson5 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Wonder if the Yankees would offer elmer Rodriguez for Jeffers that's the type of deal I'd be interested in since he's near mlb ready and twins could immediately call him up not sure yanks would actually give him up for jeffers . Hard to know what his value truly is while he's good he's a pending fa who missed a big chunk of the year injured guess we'll see in the next week .- 21 replies

Idk how they can keep wallner in St Paul with a near .1000 ops probably tells you they plan on moving on my guess is if he's not called up prior to the deadline he's getting moved to a team who believes in him personally rather have him in the lineup over roden especially when they have clemons & keashall in the outfield mix . Need culpepper to get hot so he can force the twins to call him up that way kriedler can get more days off the magic means to be running out in a everyday role even if defense still elite not to mention it's clearly about time for Houston to be moved up a level I mean he's hitting over .300 in AA in about 30 game sample safe to say he's ready for a challenge.

Call up Culpeper to the mlb so we can get Houston to AAA bro needs a challenge and clearly AA isn't a challenge for him at all kinda crazy that he's already looking like he could be a early 2027 option for the twins kinda thought he'd take a longer development but he's been legit elite as a contact hitter unfortunate for Culpeper tho likely means he's getting moved off ss pretty early into his mlb career since Houston is a elite SS

Probably wouldn't of liked it in the moment but I'd do it now for sure lmao I can understand not wanting to trade a elite pitcher for prospects in AA not sure I believe this tho when at the deadline the reports were red Sox called right before the deadline and pretty sure it was reported they never made a offer because twins wanted one of their mlb outfielders feels pretty convenient that the package isn't revealed for a year when said potential prospects are both playing well but if true id be understandable for twins to want pieces that were ready to contribute immediately would of been nice to have both prospects currently tho when it feels inevitable twins will trade Ryan anyways
-
Only trades that really move me are Seattle & dodgers the Yankees package is cool but I'm not trading any of our best players to a rival but the biggest problem is no chance Seattle trade kade anderson especially when they don't even need pitching if they actually offered that package id take it without a second thought . It's to bad padres don't got any elite prospects anymore they love getting robbed at the deadline still can't believe they gave up one of the next prospects in baseball for a reliever who they are now shopping 2 years later. I'm just hoping that if Ryan is moved the return isn't disappointing like most the trades at the deadline last year were felt like he should of gotten more in all the non rental moves
-
Shouldn't trade Jeffers unless it's for a starter close to mlb ready who you could have start a few times in St Paul then immediately call up to the mlb or trading him for a mlb arm . Trading him for a prospect who's years away really makes no sense unless they fold between now and the deadline and are forced to sell . Honestly if it was me id extend Jeffers and trade caratini

Twins Minor League Report (7/22): St. Paul Smackdown
Sampson5 replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Any idea when Culpeper will be getting off the il ? Miss watching him abuse AAA pitchers 🥲 also be nice to have him knocking on the door of a call up again now that kriedler trending back down to earth as a hitter so unfortunate that all our good prospects immediately get hurt before they get called up hopefully that changes personally think Culpeper & Jenkins can help the twins make the playoffs assuming they open up room while also adding some additional pitching help with whoever they can replace at the deadline- 20 replies

Brooks a demon on the road I'm just gonna assume he hates target field the way most his production is on the road . Cool to see the offense bounce back I had doubts when I saw a lineup with both buck & jeffers not playing be cool to split this series tomorrow

Well the good news for people who hate these projected moves is after losing 3 of the last 4 games twins are looking more and more unlikely to buy unless they get it together pretty quickly it's far more likely they sell then actually trade any meaningful prospects but honestly the most likely scenario is still they add a few low level guys without giving up anyone in the top 10-12 current prospects which is probably smart because if we're being honest twins are unlikely to make the playoffs with this bullpen and zero starting pitching depth

With the twins have 3 years of control I doubt he see a extension maybe once he's in his contract year . Twins will at least wait until pablo off the books before paying him pohlads were never having multiple highly paid pitchers at the same time they have a payroll of 100 million and have cut it more every year not sure where people are getting the idea the twins are open to raising it . While you could get him at a discount right now don't think we see any extensions until new cba agreed to
-
Abel will be back at the end of the season assuming they are still in it if they are out of playoff race by then id expect they just shut him down . I'm not certain but don't think he was ever activated when he almost returned so think the move to the 60 day was simply for roster space while he's out
-
No chance twins pay jeffers 15+ million a year tbh . If they extend him he'd have to take a discount overwise feels like twins are happy losing him and taking the draft pick .
-
While yes Tait has things to figure out don't think twins taking catchers effects him at all he will still get chances in the mlb at some point still years ago kinda feels like he's went away from what he was doing well last year in the phillies organization also possible his development just gonna take a lot longer then expected some catchers take longer to figure it out . Adding multiple catchers allows the twins to stop trying to rush with thru the minors which imo is best . Still think the long-term planned duo behind the plate is lackey & Tait

I'm ready for Houston to be up in St Paul !! I mean way he's dominating AA gotta think that by the end of the years he's up with St Paul maybe even sooner if he continues this level of production

Curious why they didn't take a chance on any lefty pitchers . Also a little weird this draft is pretty much all college guys thought they'd at least grab a few hs guys more so on day 1 since taking them on day 2 is pretty risky since always gotta massively overpay for them to sign

The Writing is on the Wall for Tristan Gray
Sampson5 replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Id call arcia back up and let him be the back up SS until Culpeper is healthy and ready . I mean what are we doing here your backup at the most important infield spot can't be terrible as a hitter and defender gotta be good at something which gray isn't he should of already been dfa'd but weirdly twins only care about certain players slumping yet others get passes and will still get regular playing time no matter how bad they play . Gray should be getting the outman treatment where he only starts once every 10 or 12 days that's how bad he's been while offense is slightly better outman at least provided some value on defense and on the bases . Unfortunate that Culpeper is hurt again I'm pretty confident if he never gets hurt he's already on the roster and gray is in the minors or on a different team RN -
Is Trevor Larnach a Fit for the Houston Astros?
Sampson5 replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
They absolutely should trade him to clear up a everyday role for jenkins or e rod this summer . Should be targeting a near or already in the majors reliever in a trade . Can't be a prospect that's years away it's the easiest way to get bullpen help without giving up any good prospects could see wallner also being moved since feel like twins are out on him after they called up roden over him when wallner been tearing up AAA pitching -
Nice win . Kinda wild seeing the twins win a series vs Cleveland the exact way they usually beat us walks , errors and singles cool to have it in our favor past 2 games be awesome to sweep them tomorrow but either way twins did their job which was win the series. Keep the pressure on the fo to get some damn bullpen help so we aren't counting on so many cooked relievers
