How the Twins Can Get to MLB’s Proposed Salary Floor
Sampson5 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I hope it passes tbh for no other reason then pohlads be forced to have a regular payroll instead of being able to slash it every off-season probably get them to sell the team quickly we can hope anyway- 78 replies

Don't see a world where Culpeper isn't added to the 40 and on the twins in the next few months maybe they do it with jenkins since he's been hurt and his numbers weren't great pre injury so he could probably use more time in St Paul and probably needs to be a opening for him which isn't at the moment

Mendez is a interesting prospect looks like a major league bat honestly wouldn't mind giving him the outman bench role it's probably time to dfa outman and get a prospect in as the 4th outfielder briefly thought outman was starting to turn in around enough to hold the job but lately even in the rare starts he's doing nothing but strikeout

It's to bad he isn't a solid defender would be fun to have Gabby as the 4th outfielder but with outman being able to the cf was unlikely they'd move on without having someone who can do the same things as a pinch runner / defensive replacement. Definitely think Gabby will be back after the deadline or if they face any of injury

Good to see royce hitting bombs again he will get another chance at some point doubt they rush him back because he's hitting AAA pitching for a week probably gonna take a month barring a injury to lee since he's playing 3rd . My question is what are they having him work on because that will be what he has to fix before twins call him back up my guess would be limiting the k's and using the whole field instead of only trying to hit homers like he's been doing this year . With lee playing 3rd I'm wondering if we see Culpeper in the mlb because we see royce again not to mention arcia & kriedler playing to well currently to rush Royce up after a few good games imo

Unless they plan on giving jeffers the qo there's no way they can keep him because they aren't paying a catcher 12+ million when they already have caratini making 7 . He will have a good market assuming he returns and plays solid before the deadline . They should also be listening on Ryan unless they wanna pay him because the return will be worse next year . The martin trade makes zero sense tbh as for Buxton you keep him until he asks out which feels doubtful to happen unless the twins turn into the rockies . I'd wait on the demoted duo see if they can turn it around enough so you at least can get some type of value

It's a little weird that he's never been given a chance but not shocking considering age & the high strikeout rate . This would be the year to do it but the fact every team passed in the rule 5 draft tells you other teams also didn't believe he could even be a 4th outfielder . Fact is he's probably the outfielder the twins believe in the least that's currently in St Paul . I'd just call him up at some point and see what he hits if he's bad you can always send him right back down but then you'd know he's a quad a player and could move on

Don't really expect any hitting prospect to come up until after the deadline when I'm guessing larnach & bell are traded really no one else who's playing demotion bad left outside of maybe keashall but with his ops in the 600s can't see that happening although that can change with a bad week or 2 . I'm more interested to see what happens with the rotation when taj & mick return they should honestly keep rojas up in a reliever role but could see him and zebby both going down & just replace swr with prelip as the 5th starter

Hope it's saboto who gets the nod for gray as good as fedko has been he's a of so makes less sense but I'd be happy either way both deserve a chance I'll just tell twins fans not to expect Culpeper no chance they add someone to the 40 for a few days long cup of coffee more likely to be someone already on the 40 and even then I'm not even confident whoever gets the call even gets more then a pinch hitter ab or 2 .

What Should the Twins Do at First Base?
Sampson5 replied to Ray Stuedemann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Im just hoping after bell is traded at the deadline that they ball up sabato so we can finally see if he can provide any value as a former 1st rounder . Clemens beens the only option who currently playing above his expectations probably a key reason twins have went from few games over .500 to around 5 or so games under .500- 84 replies

Mercedes is a obvious add to the 40 even if he falls back down to earth the tools alone make it a easy choice imo .

Be one thing if wallner was going thru a slump at the plate but instead he's not only bad at the plate striking out over 40% of the time but the defense is some of the worst you've ever seen . Twins couldn't continue to play him at the mlb level shocked it took this long tbh figured he'd of been sent down weeks ago unfortunate that e rod is hurt would of felt so much better if he was the ball up I'd guess once he's healthy he will be the guy if Royce is the next guy demoted since then kriedler can play more at 3rd in that scenario even if Royce figures it out shouldn't be hard to get e rod up here once he's healthy . Feels good to know that twins are serious and will send a former top prospect to the minors should be a wake up call for Royce that he's heading on this same path if he don't figure it out

While fans may be ready to move lee off ss I'm not sure the twins are simply because if they were he'd be getting a occasional start at a different position although maybe they start that once they deem Culpeper to be a few weeks away from a call up . Personally think he stays in St Paul probably until the deadline when they free up a full time role or maybe sooner if injuries happen. Even then he has to start playing great instead of solid to force a call up after so many young hitters struggled after being rushed up don't think the twins will be rushing Culpeper to be a part time player
