Next year.? The deadline gave them one reliever for next year. Period. Unless you think Kremer is the answer to anything. Oh, and a compensatory draft pick for not trading Jeffers, who would have returned at least one good major League ready guy.

Last year, we got people for next year. This year we got people for this year.

Hoffman is an asset at $7.25M. This is basically selling Hill for $3.75M. I am changing my mind from liking the trade to really liking the trade.

Exactly. I think it’s a very solid deal!

Per the recent article. .seems like they did not want to move him. I just really question it as the price to keep him may be too high in the off season. Teams will offer him more than the Twins.  ..also.  3 catchers or 1 catcher. 2 catchers /first. Basemen.... per another post ??

Jackson better learn 1B pronto.

So, like 2 or 3 rookies on the whole team? And 3 catchers, 2 DH, and Gray......and people love Zoll?

Soooo… you wanted another fire sale? I don't understand what you’re getting at.

I believe You'd be wrong.

The Crane thing is probably bunk, but Dan Hayes is pretty reliable that the trade rumor had some credibility

Curious if he's a rental or has control for next year?

$11M next year - Toronto is picking up “some” of this total in ‘27.

Hoffman has been quite good this year.

He was quite good for two months. He was quite putrid for the other two months.

Mike will only be happy when 4-6 guys from St Paul are brought up simultaneously!

I have a friend who is a die hard Jays fan. He said he would have taken a roll of tape for Hoffman and anything beyond that is gravy.

This is the same for Kremer and, due to salary and rental, Minter, too.  The Twins got three pretty bad players and gave up a healthy amount for that.  What they did get are guys who've pitched before.  Way, way, way too much to give up for this all.

Hill and Reyes are two of the less than 7-8 guys I wouldn't give up for anything but a great return.  Pena is probably nothing, but I wouldn't give him up as a throw-in for this kind of value.

It's a pretty ugly deadline.  Did the Twins get what they needed?  Probably not, and that answer should be an easy yes for Reyes, Hill, and Pena.

If they are up before about mid-August, the likely lose rookie status next year, and would lose that extra year of control.

If they are on the 40 man this year, and there is a lockout, they cannot play/practice next year in the minors.

It would not hurt to wait until mid-August..1 1/2 weeks away...

All this to remedy the Varland mistake. But Hoffman is very good and wouldn’t be here unless the Jays have Louie. Shows how dysfunctional Falvey and Joe Pohlad were.

Falvey and Joe were setting the Twins up for the next wave. If Lackey is a multiple time all star or more along with Jenkins everything from last year will be worth it.  The prospects and players we got are worth much more than Hill, Reyes, Amick Klein and Agbayani.  Hill and Reyes have the highest risk of backfiring.

I have no doubt there were reports of this. From what I can tell, based solely on a single tweet from a questionable source. That report then got retreated and re-reported and suddenly it's true.

I also have no doubt Larnach would known this and react. No doubt that Twins mgmt would address it with him.

But none of that makes the original tweet true.

It seemed pretty clear to me the.past week to 10 days the Twins weren't sellers, they were buying. Zoll told us so, in plain language

Dealing Larnach from the roster if you're playing for 2026 doesn't make much sense to me.

If there's a video out there of Crane confirming, I haven't seen it but I'd certainly be open to changing my mind if there is.

Agree...but explain any downside of bringing them up this year...some have made comments about it.. rookie status...upcoming lockout

Yeah, lockout wont affect the minor leagues but they both KC & WJ will improve the ‘26 playoff drive so the FO needs to be all in.

Well.... The Yankees called Zoll's bluff on his demands for Jeffers.... I strongly suspect something was on the table that was worth well more than a QO based on the return of the other catcher (even taking into account another year)... but Zoll overplayed his hand and thought he could get more

To be clear... I would have 100% traded Jeffers, Larnach, and Bell.

In addition to the prospect return... we could have started letting the kids play.

I'm highly skeptical that the Twins were two relief pitchers and a #6 starter away from being a playoff competitive team.

But... nobody call to consult me... which makes sense,... because I have (checks resume) ZERO experience as a MLB player, coach, manager, or GM :)

The dice has been cast..... time to defy the odds.... GO TWINS!

The original story seems pretty plausible to me. Crane stepped in to negotiate with Jim Pohlad last year for Correa. Idk why this trade is different. Clearly Jim Crane likes to meddle with his organization.

I'm with you, but I'm neither surprised or angry at what they did instead. I pretty much expected this, and decided not to care unless they did something stupid.

We wanted the Twins to invest in the roster. And, they did. Jury will be out for a while, but I would prefer this type of trade deadline to last year's all the time.

Bradley says hi. As do Tait and Abel.

Trading RPs in a lost year is 100% the right thing to do. This team would be better had they done more trading in previous lost years, imo.

No one is a fan of the Varland trade, other than BJs and their fans.

Like, people wanted to trade for Kepler....and people here were adamant that was a bad idea......that's 100% how Milwaukee and TB and CLE have gotten to be so successful so long. They deal guys like Larnach and Jeffers (before the year starts).

So you don't have a link then?

And indeed, Go Navy! Go immediately, since it'll take you so GD long to get there.
