A reliever who has sucked for 2 years and is still owed 15 million…and traded a borderline top 100 guy for him. None of these is even close to ‘borderline top 100.’ None of the three even make the Twins top 30 according to MLB.com.

I strongly suspect something was on the table that was worth well more than a QO based on the return of the other catcher (even taking into account another year)... but Zoll overplayed his hand and thought he could get more That's possible I suppose. But if that's the case the Yankees have to be kicking themselves right now, because they ended the day without addressing their biggest need on the same day the Red Sox got Rutschman. "Calling the bluff" just leaves them with no answer behind the plate. It was pretty clear the Twins were looking to buy, not sell this year. Knowing that, the Yankees should have upped the ante if they expected to pry Jeffers away. Not a good deadline for NY. My Yankee fan friends are pissed. 3rd place in the East is suddenly a very real possibility for them. Mike Sixel 1

The Twins got three pretty bad players and gave up a healthy amount for that. What they did get are guys who've pitched before. Way, way, way too much to give up for this all. Hill and Reyes are two of the less than 7-8 guys I wouldn't give up for anything but a great return. Pena is probably nothing, but I wouldn't give him up as a throw-in for this kind of value. It's a pretty ugly deadline. Did the Twins get what they needed? Probably not, and that answer should be an easy yes for Reyes, Hill, and Pena. 3 pretty bad players??? Well good grief 1-Minter came with a 2.35 ERA, which is about 2.28 now and a 1.00 WHIP. 2-Kremer has a 4.37 lifetime ERA to replace Matthews over 5 ERA and Prielipp’s close to 5 ERA. 3-These are Hoffman’s stats since the beginning of June IP- 22.1 H-13 ER-3 BB-8 K-30 ERA-1.21 saviking, Patzky, JD-TWINS and 1 other 4
Lefty61 Verified Member Posted 32 minutes ago Posted 32 minutes ago Takes some of sting from trading Varland last year, putting two trades together, Twins get Closer Hoffman, OF Roden, LHP Rojas, give up LHP Hill, RHP Klein, Inf Pena, 2 mths Ty France and now Jays Closer Varland. Rojas and Hoffman for Varland, win for Twins IMO Greglw3 1

Can't confirm for some reason, but I'm pretty sure any postseason time doesn't count against him. Personally I'd hope none of this matters in the least in any decision to add or not add Jenkins. Correct — post season time doesn’t add to days of service. At least some teams have been pretty upfront about preserving rookie status. A year ago, the Orioles were saying in June or July that Basallo wouldn’t be up before the mid-August date that was in play. They also waited to bring up Beavers. USAFChief 1

ROY status makes them eligible for the prospect promotion incentive. Neither Jenkins nor Culpepper is forcing their way up at the moment.

Dare I say above average again. My hope is Culpepper and Jenkins are called up very soon to bring more athleticism to the lineup and field. Don't forget we have additional by not subtracting. Ryan, Jeffers and Larnach could have all been traded away ..
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted 14 minutes ago Posted 14 minutes ago I’ve been on the “just tinker and do Sergio Romo for Lewin Diaz-level trades,” so I’ve liked their three moves. Here’s why I like what they’ve done on the pitching side for 2027: SP — Ryan, Lopez, Bradley, Ober, Kremer, Prielipp, Abel, Matthews. RP — Hoffman, Morris, Gomez, Banda, Nance, Anderson, Sands, Funderburk. TBD — Rojas, Festa, Paredes, Raya. I may have missed some folks. You might categorize them differently. I’m not overly concerned on the order at this point. If you want to add another vet to the bullpen, fine. I’d love to see Minter show his worth and get re-upped. And then an offense that, though perhaps it’s smoke and mirrors, is still atop the league in runs scored and only has Jeffers and Bell as free agents. Me likey overall. Twins_Fan_in_NJ 1

In the minors he’s averaged 3.75, hitting mostly at the top of the order. At that rate, he could play 34 full games. Sit him against a few tough lefties. Use him as a defensive replacement in a few others. Bat him 6th or 7th. It shouldn’t be difficult to manage.

Morris could be flipped back to a starter, and Matthews or Prielipp are in the pen in 2027. The pen is the unit that needs immediate adjustments as SSS kings. I like that the bullpen acquisitions this year have playoff experience. Same with Kremer in whatever role he fills in if we're lucky enough to punch a ticket into the big dance. IndianaTwin 1

Louie almost washed out at 26 going 0-6 with a 7.61 ERA. Am glad Louie is doing well, but your point about him being 28 is well made. I’ll take Rojas at 23 every time. …….. as I say about Big Matt, if Louie was from Kenosha the guys at TD wouldn’t be so sensitive about him being traded. Everyone else is supposed to be moved at Peak Value - that was Louie last July.

Walks way up, can't blow anyone away with a fastball anymore,
