Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Let's talk trade deadline! The Twins have several expiring contracts still on the books, are they going to get them moved? Twodogs Verified Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 I'm hoping that the Twins can get the expiring contracts moved today since they aren't going to do anything this season anyway. I'd seriously question the Twins motives moving forward if they trade Ryan. At that point they might as well trade Pablo and Ober too because it will take 3 seasons to become relevant again if they break up their starting rotation. But hopefully they can get rid of the expiring contracts. TNtwins85, Patzky, mickster and 1 other 3 1
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Let’s keep the transactions going. Biggest decisions today are Jax and Correa. And we should probably trade away both. Then flip Castro, Bader, and Coulombe for whatever at the end LA Vikes Fan, Dman, Woof Bronzer and 6 others 6 3

Blyleven2011 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Not totally impressed so far ... As I've stated in past posts , if the twins trade a player with team control they should be getting players back that are major league ready to help our team ... We didn't need to sell Duran , trade rumors said there was multiple teams salivating over Duran , seems like we came up alittle short , if it would have been Jax being dealt for Abel and Tait that would have seemed fair to me ... Did falvey and company get screwed , I bet ya they didn't even get kissed ... Let's make a deal but get it right to help the club now , not 3 years from now ... I agree should have held on to Duran until the off-season. I think the front office blinked, in a panic and took what they thought was best offer with A's Miller on market. Twins should have walked away from the Phillies yesterday and said more. Should have gotten at least two more lower prospects or lottery tickets included. Blyleven2011 1
Woof Bronzer Verified Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 I feel like how you view the 2026 Twins is coloring how fans feel about the Paddack/Duran moves. If you think the Twins can compete in 26 then you probably hate the deals. Personally I don't see them contending in 26 at all, and believe the only way out is a total teardown - first owners, then the entire FO, then the entire coaching staff. A lot of players too. So I've been actually ok with the moves so far. Getting anything more than a deck of cards for Paddack was a miracle, and a couple sites REALLY like the kid catcher we got from the Phillies,,, Richie the Rally Goat and Blyleven2011 2

Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Astros traded for Ramon Urias last night and are said to be chasing Alcantara and Cease. Doesn't necessarily preclude them from trading for Correa, but if they are going after front-line starting pitching, you have to wonder if they'd have enough to meet the Twins' asking price - presuming the Twins aren't willing to get fleeced (again). tony&rodney Verified Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 The returns have not been what I expected, but I don't know anything. The bottom line is always how another team values the players being discussed. Seattle picked up 2 corner infielders on expiring contracts but didn't really lose any top prospects, which means they might still be open to more additions. A few hopes to gather from Seattle might be Harry Ford and/or Felnin Celesten. What if the Twins send Jax, Coulombe, and Larnach or Wallner. Does LAD still have any interest in Harrison Bader? Or anyone else? Can the Twins get River Ryan as a return? Carlos Correa wants to win and if the Twins can only pay a third of his remaining money and get something in return ...... Castro? He is a dynamic utility player who has been overused lately. What do people see as his market? Joe Ryan? Doesn't feel like the Twins should trade Ryan but it can happen. Baltimore still needs pitching. I would want Samuel Basallo and Jordan Westburg .... in other words Ryan stays. mickster and Cory Engelhardt 2

Cory Engelhardt Verified Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 Bob Nightengale just reported that the Correa trade is dead. Astros wanted the Twins to cover 50 million of the remaining salary (102.5 million) and send them an outfielder (Larnach maybe?) and that amount of money was too much for Minnesota to agree to. Personally I think you keep Vazquez, but if we are shedding salary you trade him for a bag of balls. Then we look at 2026. As of right now it looks like we have 3 very good relievers, Jax, Sands and Varland. That isn't much different than what we had coming into this year. Stewart when healthy is another above average reliever. You can find some additional pieces. No Varland isn't a Duran, is he a very good reliever, it is definitely trending that way. The question is do they do a tear down and trade Jax and Ryan? Personally I think they should, they have already ripped the band aid off might as well go the rest of the way. However, the Twins during the Falvey years have always tried to put a good product on the field that can compete. So I think we continue to thread this line of trying to keep a good enough team, trade some from the minors, without ever building a truly elite team. Being good isn't good enough, evidenced by the pitchforks on this forum. Take some big swings on trades if available for some elite players. Trading Ryan is the piece that could bring the most. Trade Jax, trade the expiring, and then if you can get overpays on Varland, Stewart you do it. If you can trade Correa for minimal prospect damage, you do it. This is a play for 2028 moving forward. Then in the offseason we can talk about Ober and Lopez. Unwinder, Dman, Cory Engelhardt and 1 other 4

Wow Interesting to see how this ends up comparing to the Duran trade. Miller has two more years of control than Duran, and the package is headlined by an even younger, even more highly touted position player at high A coming to the A's than what the Twins are getting. Obviously need to see how the pitching lines up Cory Engelhardt and Patzky 2

Wow Who the pitchers are will be interesting. May actually make the Duran deal look much better. De Vries is the best prospect dealt, by far, but JP Sears is also going to the Padres so at least 1 of those pitchers can be attributed to him. And Mason Miller has 2 more years of control than Duran does. So, who are those 3 pitchers? Will be really interesting to see. LA Vikes Fan, Patzky, Dman and 2 others 5

Wow De Vries has a .245/.357/.410 slash line in A+ ball as 18 year old. My guess is those ratings are a little old. He has ability, but the exact same risks as Tait. The Athletics also traded JP Sears as well.
