    I would love Abreu for sure, and Vesia seems great. But I think a Bednar (Shelton certainly speaks glowingly of him from his time in Pittsburgh) or Raisel Iglesias or another that can be put into the closing role would be good, along with another setup caliber arm. Heck, I'd even shoot for 3 mlb free agent arms, a couple that are on multi year deals and another maybe after the lockout is lifted on a 1 year deal.

    Didn't he ask Toronto to not be the closer? And I hope the Twins certainly add at least one reliever who can be a closer this offseason. But, I am glad we have him.

    What if that is Culpepper at 2b? Because other moves are made and they have a SS?

    I’ll take Keaschall as of this poll. He had an .848 ops last season after May 1, which is near top of the league good. Yordan was better, but not by much. He also has the speed to be strong on the bases, and I have a feeling he has the work ethic to get better on defense. Not certain what position that will be at, but that’s my guess.

    Yeah, a healthy Buxton is 10 times the player Bell is. Hopefully his hip is recovered and he can play. But I do think he will get a good amount of DH at bats in 2027, along with hopefully helping in the field. Josh Bell had a fine 2026. Below what I would expect from a DH only, but players liked him for sure. Not good enough to get his number retired, like I would imagine Buxton would after he retires

    Coming back to this, if Schmitt can be penciled in as a strong 2B on defense, his bat and his speed look good to me. I'd be open to this idea the more I think on it. I also think a decent pitching prospect being attached wouldn't hurt either.

    Please know I like Josh Bell the player and the person. For the 2027 roster and how the team is set up now, I just don’t see a fit. IF we knew Buxton were to be healthy and play 130+ games in the field, I MIGHT feel different. But I can very much see Buxton playing some cf and a lot of DH next year. If anything, Buxton is the Oliva of this team no? I certainly wouldn’t want Josh Bell to be in the lineup over a healthy Buxton. You agree with that, right?

    It's not just small sample. I love his underlying data too. I don't know if you believe in baseball savant, but his page is a LOT of red. A lot more red than many of his Twins teammates. He doesn't chase, he hits the ball relatively hard, and he doesn't strike out a ton. Frankly I believe in his bat an awful lot more than I do E Rod's, both for his production at AAA in his career and for what he showed in the majors in 2026. I don't know what the plan is for them acquiring a new 1B/middle of the order bat. But I do think there will be at bats available for him at 1B and in the outfield this year. That's because A) His production looks like it'll be solid at minimum, as well as B) with the injury history that Buxton, Jenkins and E Rod have all shown, I have to think he'll get playing time in the outfield. Also generally, he won't be a speed demon in the outfield, but he certainly is a much better athlete with a lot better range than Larnach ever was.

    You and I are not going to agree here. Even with that, let’s say Roden does start at aaa. I don’t see that happening, but let’s say it happens. What is your opening day outfield and DH then? Knowing of course that E Rod can’t be optioned to the minors

    Just saying this without actually looking at the production he provided both at aaa and in the majors in 2026 is wild. Josh Bell was fine. He had an ok season. Good for him. Seems like a good dude. He won’t be back

    Ok, so then who of Roden and Rodriguez and Buxton and Jenkins and Keaschall are you jettisoning?

    I can't imagine a scenario where Josh Bell is playing for the Minnesota Twins next season. Why do you think he will be back? He can't play 1b, and they have (at minimum) 5 outfielders once Buxton is healthy who can all get playing time. IF he could play 1b, then that would make sense. Otherwise, I just can't see it.

    I'd love to use this information and for tracking purposes point out some pitchers, specifically that could start, who would benefit from using their fastball more often that the Twins could target. But even more than that, which of the Twins current starting options would benefit from using their fastballs more? Does Zebby or Prielipp or Rojas or Abel or Bradley (or all of the guys on 1 year deals who may or may not be traded) have a good fastball shape that should be used more often? I have a hunch that Freddy Peralta would be a good option to target, but I also don't believe he'd be in the Twins price range. Especially with other holes that are on this team

    Offer that QO, get that draft pick, and then trade for a different strong defensive catcher. Heck, I'd even be open to the idea of trading Caratini and getting 2 new catchers in who can hold the fort down until reinforcements are ready. I certainly don't have any confidence that Caratini is a near starter anymore, especially on the defensive side.

    I can see this. If Larnach gets offered arbitration I have to think Houston or someone else would probably still be interested. But they'd better make sure a trade would go through this time. I also think, well, both Ryan and Ober could be on the block. Ryan for whatever the best package is, but maybe Ober could get back a strong defensive catcher like Pedro Pages of the Cardinals? He can't hit, but pairing him with Caratini and then in a year plus with Lackey wouldn't be the worst thing in my opinion.

    This thread was bumped because there was a rumor (just a rumor) that the Cubs could send Shaw and two pitching prospects for Joe Ryan this offseason. I was mostly curious if Shaw would be a good fit as a 2B here. If he is just a backup/utility I don't know that I'd want him as a headliner for Ryan.

    Would you say the Twins don't want him more for the potential talent or team fit, or the clubhouse fit, or maybe both?

    I don’t need to supplant Culpepper on the roster. I meant they should very much try to improve on Kreidler. And that’s doable via trade I believe. And if that player either moves Culpepper to 2b or moves Clemens to full time utility while starting at 2b, that’s something the team could use, especially on the defensive side
