    What's going out for Xavier Edwards? That's going to be a LOT. I like the idea though. I also would have Prielipp in the rotation on opening day, certainly ahead of Kremer. I hope Abel can be right though.

    I agree, but do you think vibes is justification for holding a roster spot for months of a season? I don't.

    Whenever they talked about Jackson it sounded like they were basically saying he was there for the vibes. Like he tried hard, did all the pregame stuff for all positions, and was easy to be around. So yeah, vibes. Not something I would prioritize, but if you are a 3rd catcher with a strong arm, that's what you should do. Hopefully next season's roster building is stronger.

    I'd be fine with it being another change of scenery type player too. Don't know who that is, but it feels like he could use a change of scenery too.

    Is this some new rumor? A quick google search only shows this article lately. I'd be open to it depending on the return. But typically it's not good to trade a player when their value is low.

    Rogers has had a great career. He is not a great pitcher anymore, and every pitcher gets to that point at some point. Tip your cap. I would not do this just because. If he were going for top 5 or even first in team history then I could get behind this. Going from 11th to 10th doesn't move the needle for me.

    We'll see. His 2nd half certainly didn't help. He agreed to the mutual option for 2027 to not have to go to arbitration. This offseason will be strange to say the very minimum, and he did make 6.2 in 2026. I'm not certain he is getting an awful lot more than 13 via arbitration in 2027.

    No. If he doesn’t agree to that number then he would go to arbitration. After this season do you think he is set to make more than 13 million in arbitration for 2027?

    I mean, there is a lot more to do. But it's not been NOTHING. That's all I meant. I would hope they do more, trade for players that can be part of the core. That SHOULD be the goal no?

    Of those players I mentioned, only arguably Hoffman and Clemens won't be here after 2027. That's my opinion., Probably also Ryan. What do you mean by long term? 2 years? 5 years?

    I can't imagine there is any front office in baseball who truly believes they can win solely with their internal prospects.

    I'm not at all mad with what they added. What they did trade away I don't think will come back to haunt them, and at the time I very much preferred them add to a bullpen that needed help. I certainly didn't think their offense would stop scoring runs. But I also agree, I would have very much been open to trading Ryan and Larnach at the deadline too, as well as trading some prospects for bullpen help. I wish that's what would have happened.

    I think they are a better team with him in the super utility role. But whatever works.

    So far this season, per fangraphs, Luke Keaschall (2.4) Taj bradley and Brooks Lee (2.3) and Connor Prielipp (1.6) all are well under 4 WAR. Baseball reference has Keaschall (1.6, but that's with 3.7 on offense and a negative number defense to get there) Bradley (3.9) Brooks Lee (2.3) and Prielipp (-0.2) WAR. I do think all of these guys can have been years with more experience. That's not crazy to say. But all of them have to if that is the bar. Buxton and Pablo getting back healthy, and Rodriguez and Jenkins and Culpepper being the leaders is a better path to getting back to the playoffs overall in my opinion anyway. Hopefully that works, as well as acquiring more talent both for the rotation and the bullpen and at least a couple of bats. It's not impossible, but more has to be added.

    I really truly do not understand why Joe Ryan is listed ahead of Pablo Lopez for the theoretical 2027 rotation. Pablo has been the ace of the staff since he got here, and it's not like Ryan showed to be the ace throughout the year. Frankly, as things look today, I'm closer to listing Ryan as 3rd behind Pablo and Bradley. I do hope Ryan can figure it out. That is, if they don't trade him this offseason.

    Gotta say, I don't think this is a feasible option completely. I have hope that the potential of our young guys will be good. I also don't think you can have a roster completely made of JUST young guys and do well. I do think the outfield/DH you listed is feasible. I think another outfield, probably one that's right handed, should be brought in. Mostly for a bench guy against lefties, but guys get hurt and need days off. I don't think you can truly rely on Royce anymore. I wish I was wrong, but I do think they have to do something to truly upgrade 1B. I really like Isaac Paredes as an option from Houston, but I haven't spent a lot of time researching who else might be out there at 1B. I mean, maybe we find out that Royce has been playing with some injury the last few months, but to me it looks like he just chases any offspeed pitch the way that Javy Baez used to, so when he is getting sliders and curveballs in the dirt, he is swinging away. I think they have to bring in someone from the outside there. I also agree with others that 2B is probably the best option to upgrade our offense via the free agent route. I very much hope they bring in an outside player here who can stabilize the lineup in some fashion. I don't know who that is, but adding another hitter means that they aren't just waiting for Houston to be ready at some point, and/or that every other player gets to the point that Houston is ready and is also healthy. And really, Buxton needs to get his hip ready to go. IF he is healthy and his hip isn't bothering him, then everything else can sort of fall into place. IF he isn't (and that is a BIG if) then so many young guys have to learn and take more lumps on their own. I do hope the coaching staff and front office we have in place are up to the challenge. Because if they aren't, I don't know that I trust Tom Pohlad to hire the right people. And really, mostly, I hope there is a season next year.

    I know this is just one game, but man, the last 3 years of awful 2nd half performances is just not enjoyable in any sense. Ugh. Maybe if there is a lockout, a refresh in the front office and the coaching staff isn't a bad thing? Just, ugh.

    We don't KNOW that Jeffers won't be here next year. And you and I have had as many plate appearances as Jackson has. I think they've also seen enough of him too.
