Martin should start the year in the outfield. Larnach should be moved. The others I agree with

Wagaman has options though which doesn’t hurt. Not that I think Urshela makes the team. Just saying.

I don't think an OF opening necessarily does that either.

That's definitely the inkling I have too in many ways. It FEELS like Donovan Solano again, where we didn't see a fit at the start of the year and then he played a LOT. If Clemens stays and earns his spot all year, and keeps it with the younger guys coming up, well that means he is probably performing well right? I still think there are other moves to come. I can't imagine Larnach and Wallner and Clemens all make the opening day roster. I suppose I could be wrong here.

Then I'd be curious what you think helps the team more; 1) Larnach is the primary DH vs. righties, so that means Bell is your 1B option along with Caratini. 2) Bell is the primary DH vs righties, so that means Clemens is your 1B option along with Caratini. Basically, IF Larnach is on the team as the DH, then in my opinion that makes Clemens' role completely just as a backup. And once Rodriguez or Jenkins or Roden or others are ready then other moves HAVE to be made right?

Barring health obviously, I'm still curious if Clemens truly has a firm grasp on the position on opening day. Is his glove truly good enough to hold off and keep Bell has the primary dh and Caratini solely as the backup catcher? I have my doubts there. If Bell and Caratini are kind of your primary 1b that keeps DH as rotating and allows for more bats in the lineup? I mean, am I missing something? Clemens' baseball savant page certainly has more red it in than I would have expected, but is he truly still a starter on this team?

I can't see any way that he is in the rotation opening day. Zebby and Abel both have looked good so far and he is still ramping up. I still think he fits in best in the pen, but I get why they would want to build him up slowly and then hopefully get to the 3-4 innings pitched mark by the end of spring. Still, some time in AAA to start the year to learn the cadence of being in the bullpen and getting ready to pitch in relief makes a lot of sense to me.

I like this a lot, and I also really think Caratini can be used like Donovan Solano to an extent. Some catching, but some 1b and some dh too. That does leave room for a decent backup/3rd catcher.

I agree with this. I know he's a good clubhouse guy, but his path to real playing time certainly wasn't helped by them signing Caratini.

I think Larnach still gets traded, leaving Martin as a sure fit. After that, Outman, Kreidler or Arcia, and even Alex Jackson could all fit. Curious if they make any other moves this spring.

Question of the week: grade the offseason

Real games start 3/26/26. Lots of time between now and then. That's all -
Question of the week: grade the offseason

The Taylor Rogers and Brent Rooker for Chris Paddack trade happened on 4/7/22, and all reporting out there states the Twins still want a SS and at least one more right handed reliever. Frankly with losing Pablo I almost expect another starter to potentially now be added too. So no, I don't think the time to add players prior to opening day is in any sense done. -

Incomplete. No way it's done yet. -
I think they still bring in another arm to bump either Funderburk or Adams back to St. Paul. I also think there is a CHANCE that Liam Hendriks could bump one of them anyway. I mean, if they already have Rogers AND Chafin AND Banda, is Funderburk really making the team opening day? Also, with that, the train from St. Paul to Minneapolis will run hot this year I'd imagine for the bullpen again.

I would love the idea of Paredes. But is he truly an upgrade defensively at 3b over Lewis? I know this season is a big one for Lewis and I'm hopeful, but if they are bringing in a different 3b I would want them to be a pretty big upgrade defensively there no? Paredes bat would be awesome here, and it would be fun to see how the pieces fit. As far as trading Larnach and/or other lefty corner bats, go for it.

If this were to play out, I can’t see using a bulk reliever with either Lopez or Ryan. So maybe that means those two don’t pitch back to back. But I don’t hate this concept in theory.

Is Larnach truly a big move? I still think they add a right handed reliever somehow, but trade makes sense. If they do end up signing another starter (Gallen?) then trading Ryan makes even more sense
