  1. I would love the idea of Paredes. But is he truly an upgrade defensively at 3b over Lewis? I know this season is a big one for Lewis and I'm hopeful, but if they are bringing in a different 3b I would want them to be a pretty big upgrade defensively there no? Paredes bat would be awesome here, and it would be fun to see how the pieces fit. As far as trading Larnach and/or other lefty corner bats, go for it.
  2. If this were to play out, I can’t see using a bulk reliever with either Lopez or Ryan. So maybe that means those two don’t pitch back to back. But I don’t hate this concept in theory.
  3. Good question. Probably means nothing right now. But if it does mean something, how they list Kody Clemens doesn't give me a lot of confidence that he is for sure making the team. But yeah, probably just listed that way.
  4. Is Larnach truly a big move? I still think they add a right handed reliever somehow, but trade makes sense. If they do end up signing another starter (Gallen?) then trading Ryan makes even more sense
  5. They can if Caratini is being used like Donovan Solano was a few years back. Swiss army knife position of sorts. But agreed, a lot of my fears for the defense really come down to if Brooks Lee can be a competent/good SS or not. He hasn't shown that yet, so we'll see if he can be that now or not.
  6. See, I'd keep him over a number of the left handed hitting corner types we have on the roster. At least he provides solid defense as a baseline, even if it is for a backup catcher.
  7. It's not the commenters here that have said Raya would look good in the pen. For one, he ONLY pitched in relief in St. Paul the last month plus of the season last year, and Falvey et al have mentioned his name pretty extensively as a bullpen option going into the spring here.
  8. I mean, I enjoy watching baseball. But maybe it's not for everyone.
  9. I get the sense that Bell and Caratini both could be ahead of Clemens on the 1b depth chart right? I'd be open to being wrong, but it's hard to see a true role for him that makes sense. This roster is so confusing still.
  10. I wouldn't put money on Raya staying as a starter any longer. I also don't know why we are assuming that Clemens still has an obvious spot on the team either.
  11. I keep coming back to, what if Jackson is the true backup catcher in a sense, and Caratini does catch some but is treated MORE like Donovan Solano was? It's not like Caratina grades out all that super defensively at catcher, and Jackson's arm to throw out runners is pretty strong. I also still would be shocked if both Larnach and Wallner are on the team opening day. I THINK Larnach will be traded at some point and it's weird it hasn't happened yet.
  12. I haven't seen anything to show that Fedko would be a better defender or a better runner than Roden.
  13. IF they go the trade route to add a reliever, that'll be interesting to see what they focus on as far as they type of pitcher they target. I would not move Bradley or Abel or Zebby or Prielipp or SWR to the rotation. Morris frankly I'd keep in the rotation in AAA too. If Prielipp and Morris are in the rotation in St. Paul that's fine, and frankly one of the others (Zebby or Abel or both) also start the year in St. Paul, I'd prefer to keep the depth too. All of them will start games throughout the year in the majors, and before the trade deadline (if there aren't other injuries) there will definitely be openings to earn right? One or both of Ryan and Ober for sure, as well as Pablo, are all maybe on other teams come August.
  14. I agree with that, but there will probably be at least one injury in spring training to account for. At least that's pretty normal each year. Hopefully they sign or trade for at least one more late inning reliever. And it's good to have depth for both the rotation and the bullpen anyway.
  15. Gotta say, I wouldn't move Prielipp out of the Saint Paul rotation to start the year, and I wouldn't move Zebby off starting either. Festa I agree with. I mean, look ahead to July; they are going to most likely move Ryan before August 1, and maybe even one or both of Ober and Pablo right? Maybe not all, but some. And there is no way that only 5 starters go the year anyway.
  16. I love roster projections before the offseason is done. This to me is a sign that a move or two is coming in the next 24 hours. Still fun to read. Thanks!
  17. If we play this out, would this make anyone more open to then trading Ryan? Let’s say they could get Valdez for 3-4 years. Would turning around and trading Ryan for a good young defensive SS be a smart move? Ryan certainly isn’t going to extend here for only that amount of time. Just a thought
  18. He appears to have the makings of being a very good reliever if his shoulder is healthy. It'll be fun to see how he looks this spring.
  19. I was going to say, maybe the real scapegoats are the friends we met along the way? :)
  20. Gabriel Gonzalez may change your mind on this still at some point. And certainly, Polanco's FIRST year in Seattle (before he resigned there) was really bad too.
  21. I can't put the 2025 deadline in the worst decisions pile yet. Too much data to see longer term. The others I agree with. Just to have another transaction instead, I think 3 years for the production that Vazquez contributed could be up there. But I imagine there are many others too.
  22. Go for it! :)
  23. I'm taking that over. Frankly I'd take the over if it was set at 80.5. Please know that I might either be committed, or I should be :)
  24. I mean, Ryan is about 3 months younger. I wouldn't say he's YOUNGER. They would have been in the same grade at the same time in school no?
