    Not here to bet, at least for that amount. But how important is a 3rd catcher that doesn't play? Especially if you have an ownership group who is stating they want to raise payroll next year? It very well could be another player going down. I can see that. But just curious why a 3rd catcher on a roster is so important?

    Good timing to say this today with Roden having 3 hits so far. And I also think Kreidler still has a roll as his glove at SS and CF are both pretty steady. I think you are looking more at Jackson going down if anything.

    It's weird getting older. 16-25 year old me knew every player on every team and knew their stats and how well they had done for the past few years. Even what positions they played or where I thought they would be better. Now I look at the box score before a game and realize I've never heard of Brandon Young. What is a Brandon Young?

    He did show more at AAA than any of the other twins prospects have shown at AAA this year. I think he deserves a shot. Frankly, I would have very much been ok with Larnach being moved. I know he's having a good year but I think Roden, with a defined role, can provide what Larnach can with possibly better defense. And that's before we get into the potential with Jenkins.

    Dan Hayes wrote a bit ago that the Twins and Cubs were the teams that had called Toronto on Jose Siriano after he had been acquired initially from the Angels. That part is interesting to me. Hayes even goes to report that they had offered a package built around Kaelen Culpepper, but when Toronto asked for Riley Quick as a secondary piece (compared to whatever other secondary pieces the Twins were offering) that's when the agreement fell through. Later, the Twins and Toronto came together for the Jeff Hoffman trade. So, getting Dean Kremer and then Jose Siriano at the deadline. What would you have thought of that deal happening?

    I'd be ok with it being Jenkins who gets the shot. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but I have to think with the level of defense that Wallner provides, I'm ready to move on. If Wallner was capable of CF level defense, I'd think he would be up by now.

    Oh man, if you could promise me Matt Wallner could emulate late 90's Matt Stairs (moustache and all) that would be awesome. And yeah, hopefully Rodriguez can stay healthy.

    Of those you mentioned, Lopez and Abel are coming back from injuries, and as of now I have no idea what to think of Joe Ryan. I actually do think Lopez will be fine, but depth is a good thing, and frankly you can never have enough pitching. I also can't imagine Festa getting a chance to start again and being healthy enough for that. He, and to another extent Matthews, are bullpen arms for me next year. I'd love to be wrong. But yeah, of those you mentioned, Lopez and Kremer should be good to go. Ryan probably. Bradley for sure. Actually Prielipp I would solidly add in there as of now, and I'd also be open to Rojas getting more leash. I don't know if Ober will be back for sure (maybe he is a trade candidate) but then I can easilly see the argument for spending on a durable starter in free agency too.

    No to Wallner. He's almost 29. He isn't a prospect any longer. I'm good with moving on. Roden still does have potential. Check out his savant page. In a small sample, it's more red on there than even Larnach. I don't know if he will be a star, but he hits the ball generally pretty hard, and certainly he is a better defensive option than Wallner is.

    If they are raising payroll for next year, Trevor Rogers is someone I wouldn't hate attempting to sign.

    Ok, I don't think he'll debut against Trevor Rogers, but he also didn't play today for the Saints. Having him come out of the cornfield would be fun. But yeah, I think he is close. It's probaby wishful thinking, but he will debut before September in my opinion.

    Anyone else see that Jenkins and Lackey both didn't play and just assume/hope they are both promoted soon respectively?

    So maybe the Twins do have a right handed hitting middle of the order bat in Royce Lewis that I thought they had been missing. Geez, when he is going he is fun to watch

    I like him there too, or at 2b, IF he can focus on it in the offseason and get a LOT better at one of those 2 spots. I think he has the work ethic to get there.
