  1. If we are talking dream targets, I'd love to pursue a young, cost controlled, great defensive catcher who could hold down the position for 3-4 years. How would the Twins acquire Austin Hedges? I know he isn't supposed to be an amazing hitter, but he is supposed to be great defensively. What would it take to acquire him from the Padres?
  2. You realize Mauer's contract is not in the way AT ALL for the Twins spending money, right?
  3. I like where you are going with this. My dream is to sign someone like Jiminez and then figure out a trade for Homer Bailey (with resigning him) and the closer to spring training picking up a few guys on minor league deals to give a shot (like Kazmir last year) although I don't know who that is.
  4. Why not move Diamond to long relief and cut/demote one of the bullpen guys? Is that an option? It seems as if Diamond usually holds his own the first time through the order, and usually tops out at being good for maybe 4 innings. Isn't that what you look for in a long reliever? Who is better for that role, Swarzak or Diamond? Or is there someone else they could demote in that regard?

  6. I may have missed the reply, but I just wanted to note that Miguel Sano is not 21. All reports show him as being born 5/11/1993, which means he'll turn 20 in about 2 months time. He's still technically 19. He will turn 21 at some point though.
  7. Or, maybe Redmond had a major hand in who they received in the deal. He was a manager in the Blue Jays system after all, so he would know specifically what minor league players to target in a deal of this magnitude. I'm guessing he had a huge hand in who they asked for and received, and were able to get players that will help Miami turn it around. Outside of it seeming gross and bad for the sport, I'm guessing Redmond knew exactly what players to target and who could help Miami going forward.
  8. What about Jeremy Bonderman on a 1 year deal?
  9. I would think the lineup could change a bit, nothing is set in stone. Just what I wrote down thinking about it quickly. And yes, maybe it is too video-gamey, sorry about that. They do need a ton of upgrades in the middle infield and the starting rotation, so I figured it was worth a shot.
  10. Here are some ideas I had for the Twins for next year. I apologize if they feel too video-gamey, but I think this is something they potentially could be doing for next year... Trade Denard Span to the Yankees for Phil Hughes. Hughes may become expensive after next year, and he would also probably do well away from the pressure in New York. We sure do need pitching. Trade Justin Morneau and at least one good prospect (hopefully not named Sano, Arcia or Rosario) and maybe a lower level prospect (that, crosses fingers, doesn't ever make the majors) to Texas for Elvis Andrus. Texas gets a former MVP 1st baseman (they don't have a good one right now, and Morneau is starting to look good again) and give up a young all star shortstop who is very good defensively. Texas then brings up the #1 prospect in the game Jurickson Profar to take over at SS going forward. The Twins hopefully have SS solved for the next 5-10 years. Sign one starting free agent starter, I'm guessing someone like Colby Lewis who is durable to the point of being a great starter, but he's coming off injury. Resign Scott Baker to an incentive laden deal, have him ready to go middle of the year. So you have... CF Revere SS Andrus C/DH/1B Mauer LF Willingham 3B Plouffe 1B Parmelee DH/C Doumit RF Arcia 2B Dozier/Escobar/Florimon/someone else Starting rotation of Diamond, Hughes, Lewis, Gibson and anyone else until Baker is healthy. We still would get a high draft pick next year to use on pitching, and hopefully would be better for it... Bullpen of Duensing, Burton, Perkins and any number of players that will try out in spring training. What do you guys think?
  11. So where would you put Eduardo Escobar on this list if you thought he would still be counted as a prospect? And Parmelee?
  12. Where can you follow the game to see the updates?
  13. Where is Mitch Brown, the Rochester Century kid, ranked as far as pitching goes? Is he someone the Twins should think about with one of their supplemental picks and/or 2nd round picks?
  14. I saw Sano is not playing in Beloit's game today. Does anyone know if it is a regular day off or if there is something else up? I don't know if he's missed a game yet this year so that could be it.
