He had a good run, If I recall correctly, we got him in the Liriano trade, and the expectations were fairly low at that point. But he stuck around and ended up being a darned good player for many years. If this is the end for him, so be it, but he can be proud of the good years.

He was always a great personality in the clubhouse also.  I know many people dont really care about that kind of stuff, but it's important to have those kind of dudes in a clubhouse during a long season.

If you go to Angels Stadium you will see Torii Hunter, Bert Blyleven, Dean Chance, Rod Carew as all time great Angels.

Apparently Rod Carew won't even step into Angels Stadium as long as Artie Moreno is still the owner.

Kenta Maeda on the 15 day IL (and has a 6.75 ERA). I wanted the Twins to sign him at the right price. Maybe a good move not to sign him.

Akil Baddoo called up in his place.

I wanted the Twins to sign him too, but yeah, maybe passing on him at his age was the right thing to do. Nevertheless, I hope he comes back from the IL and pitches like he used to do.

Especially against the Guardians and Royals.

Can confirm this. Heard it from Carew himself when I spent an hour with him a few years back at a STH exclusive meeting. He said that he feels unwelcome there and was insulted when he offered to do stuff for the team and was told no thanks.

Rooker is looking good for A's this year (288/975). Sample large enough to make a statement.

Game is on against Astros, live, on MLB.com TV (Thurs eve).

Presley on the other hand, is having a tough year w/Astros. 16.1 inn, 5.51 ERA, 1.78 wHip.

Perhaps consider that the people who don’t care about that kind of stuff are the ones that cause other people to appreciate the great personalities

Only because I never like to leave a dead horse unbeaten:  Last 15 days OPS:  Alex Kiriloff:  .319:  Eddie Rosario:  1.235;  Wait for it....

Rosario ran out of team control years ago. The Twins would have needed to sign him as a free agent. Comments about Rosario are downright stupid at this point.

And yet we've NEVER replaced his production in LF

And Rosario himself would not replace that production, because he's not the same player anymore.  Even with today's offense against the Twins his batting average is .190 and his OPS is .640.  Rosario himself is the wrong place to be looking.  Hence, the dead horse.

Yeah, Rooker is both hitting homers and has raised his batting average and OBP thus far this season. He was the A's lone all-star last year, and he might be that player again this season.

The mistake was letting him walk when they did.  Over $8 million.  What a joke.  I'm old enough to remember a time when every self respecting Twins fan in the state would have ROASTED management for letting a bat get away because of $8 million.  Rosario also brought intangibles that can't be measured on a stat sheet and sure has hell have not been replaced since he left.  Bottom line is, regardless of what he's done elsewhere, this team has NEVER adequately replaced him and would have been better in the time since he's left had he not left.

But we've got Kiriloff.  And Larnach.  And Wallner.

Old friend Lamonte Wade Jr currently leads MLB with a .484 OBP. The Giants record appears to be safe for now… 2004 Barry Bonds had a .609 OBP (!!)

I always thought that Wade would be a useful player but never imagined he would be playing THIS WELL. More power to him!

Matt Bowman is getting DFA’d by Arizona, the Twins could get him back if they wish. My guess is they won’t put in a claim.

We never replaced Puckett either.  What does that have to do with the decision to let him go and would he have contributed since we let him go?  Since Rosario left his wRC+ is 89 and it’s 77 this year.  He has produced .6 WAR in 3.33 years.  He has basically been a replacement level player.   He is hitting 177 for the year and has negative WAR.  Should regret not having lost a player who has sucked for over 3 years because he has had 2 good weeks?  We continue to beat this dead horse because those of you who thought it was a horrible mistake ignore that he has sucked with the exception of a playoff run with the Braves.  Why on earth would we want Eddie Rosario.  Is it for the below average offense or the bad defense?

Rosario only produced over 3 WAR in one year (2018).  He was phenomenal the 1st half of 2018 and sucked after July 1st.  His wRC+ for the 2nd half of 2018 was 70.  His wRC+ since then is 93.  That's how long it's been since Eddie Rosario was above average.

Shaun Anderson was DFA'd by TEX.

All these Twins names from the past: Duffy, Bowman, Anderson ... it's like relief pitcher roulette going on!

In true Twins (or former Twins) fashion, Danny Coulombe allowed a HR to end the Orioles no-hit bid yesterday. To be fair, they still beat the lowly ChiSox.

also how long it has been since our LF production has been even as much as adequate
