Ehire Adrianza was DFA'd by the Angels. I wonder if this is the end of his big league career. He'll be 35 later this year, and hasn't hit much in some time. A prototypical utility player, who was never a regular, he has reached 10 years in major league service. If he is done, he made the most of his abilities.

I didn't realize that he was that old. But yeah, not a bad career for a guy considered a borderline utility player early in his career. Didn't the Twins pick him up on waivers originally? He had a couple of productive years with the Braves, so I'm sure he's not too disappointed.

Our friend Miguel, always open to new ways to miss the lineup. On the IL:

"After starting a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League, Sanó accidentally burned his left knee on May 25 because of a mishap with a heating pad. He was pulled from his rehab assignment on May 29 because the burn was severe enough that he needed further treatment. He resumed baseball activities on May 31 and played in his first game since the heating pad issue on June 8, recording one hit in three at-bats..."

Always one of my favorites, Curt Suzuki, scrappy, tough catcher.

"Today, Suzuki is a baseball and soccer coach to his kids and a special assistant to Perry Minasian, the general manager of the Los Angeles Angels. While he helps with the team's pitchers and catchers, his time is much more centered on his children's lives at school and on the playing fields..." https://discovernikkei.org/en/journal/2023/6/25/family-man/#:~:text=Today%2C Suzuki is a baseball, and on the playing fields.

Jorge Polanco is coming off of Seattle’s IL.  He is batting .195 on the year so far.  Sub-.600 OPS.     Looks like the Twins broke their ties with Polo just in time.   I remember, several years ago, going to see Buxton in Cedar Rapids and coming home extremely impressed with Polanco.   It’s a tough biz.

Former Twins farmhand Spencer Steer is on pace for 20 homers, 25 steals and 100 RBI while playing 1B and OF for the Reds. An argument could be made for an All-Star nod for the 2nd year player.

Former Twins farmhand Chase Petty is 21 years old and pitching in Double-A Chattanooga in the Reds system. He's 6-2 with a 5.40 ERA in 14 starts this year. He's got 59 strikeouts in 63 innings pitched. He's steadily moving up the ranks and could be an anchor in their rotation in a couple years.

Tyler Duffey DFA'd by KC and John Curtiss called up by COL.

Did any other team end up picking up Duffey for a MiLB deal? And what of Aaron Hicks after his release from the Angels?

Sano and Polanco are off the injured lists and playing again. Sano is 1-9 (a HR) with 5 Ks. Polanco is 1-8 with 4 Ks. Hopefully Polanco gets hot again...after this weekend is over.

Niko Goodrum needs to keep his suitcase packed. He was claimed by the Pirates and optioned to the minor leagues. So far this year, he has been with the Twins (Spring Training), Rays, Angels and now the Pirates. He got in major league games with the Angels and Rays.

Goodrum now has signed a minor league deal with Baltimore.

Keoni Cavaco signs with Astros as a pitcher.

As a pitcher? Really?! Never saw that one coming.

Drew Maggi, one of the few added to the Twins active roster but never getting in a game, has signed a minor league deal with the Tigers after indy ball play.

Gotta give Drew credit for perseverance. He finally got his "real" MLB game with the Pirates last year, which was a fun story. Hope he can make back up again.

I can totally see him becoming an institution as a manager in the not too distant future.

Eddie Rosario has been DFA'd.

I'd noticed that he hadn't played for the Nationals for a few days. Nor has Joey Gallo. Is he injured again, or also about to put out to pasture?

Gallo is on the 10 day IL, but you have to imagine he doesn't have much rope left once he returns.

Former Twins pitchers with the Mets this year:

                          ERA     IP       BB   K    WHIP

Jorge Lopez     3.76     26.1    11    19    1.37    released, now with Cubs

Michael Tonkin 5.14     7.0      2    6     1.43    released, now pitching well for Yankees

Tyler Jay           7.71      4.2     3    3      2.14

I guess I just felt like we needed to know this for some reason.

Matt Bowman may rival Niko Goodrum before the season is over--he's pitched in the majors for three teams and is now a free agent after opting out of a minor league contract with the Mariners.

And he's back on a minor league contract.
