I missed this one earlier... the Twins have signed Orlando Arcia to a minor league deal. Twins Sign Orlando Arcia To Minor League Deal - MLB Trade Rumors Technically, this is not former Twins news. However, Orlando is the younger brother of former Twin great Oswaldo Arcia. So, there's that.

Rich Hill may soon be available again. If the Twins trade off more of their rotation, I could totally see them signing Rich for a spot start or two. Royals Designate Rich Hill For Assignment - MLB Trade Rumors

Former Twins catcher Ben Rortvedt has been DFA's after last night's Rays vs. Twins game where he went 0-3 lowering his BA to .095 this season. Rays To Designate Ben Rortvedt For Assignment - MLB Trade Rumors

Here is a look at Former Twins currently playing in the Mexican League: Tijuana Bulls - OF Danny Ortiz (topped out at AAA Rochester in 2015, has 1 MLB hit in 12 ABs for the Pirates in 2017) Oaxaca Warriors - UT Danny Santana (finished 7th in ROY voting for 2014, had a career year with the Rangers in 2019 (.283/28/81) Monclova Steelworkers - 1B Kennys Vargas (last saw MLB-affiliated action in 2018 with AAA Rochester) Union Laguna Cotton Workers - P Fernando Abad, 2B Jonathan Schoop Leon Braves - IF Jermaine Palacios (hit .143 with 2 HR in 2022 with the Twins in his lone MLB season) Golden Chihuahua - SS Andrelton Simmons, P Devin Smeltzer, P Lewis Thorpe Jalisco Charros - OF Kyle Garlick, CF Billy Hamilton (went 0-7 in 8 PAs for the Twins in 2022 with 3 SB and 1 CS), P Stephen Gonsalves, P Dereck Rodriguez (Son of Pudge) Saltillo Saraperos - OF Oswaldo Arcia, P Deolis Guerra (yes, the one acquired in the 2008 Johan Santana trade with the Mets! Seeing the Braves activate Luke Williams made me think of former Twin Luke Hughes who held the record for most Career Home Runs in the ABL (modern day Australian Baseball League) at the time of his retirement in 2020. He has since been surpassed by Tim Kennelly who spent some time in MiLB but never made it to the majors as Luke Hughes did. If I recall, I think Luke's 1st MLB hit was a home run. He logged 106 MLB games.

This is it, if you ask me. They are not a team that generates any sort of excitement or anticipation of what might happen next. They rarely, if ever, attempt to manufacture runs. They play poor defense with equally poor all-around baseball fundamentals (TK would be sick watching this team). Every single "move" seems to be strictly by the book (the advanced stat sheet) with no awareness of, or adjustments made from, game-situation observations. There was one spark of optimism which got me excited to watch a Twins game this year and that was the emergence of Luke Keaschall. When he was batting, or running the bases, it was suddenly must-watch TV. And in an instant, whether a fluke or simply bad Twins injury mojo, this one incentive for watching was shut down. Or, hear me out, maybe all they really need is a dome.

Mike Soroka just got $9 million from Washington. He has 2 wins after the year 2019. $5 million gets you a ball boy and a bag of popcorn. Might as well save that money to pay for some good fan promotions because the play on the field isn't going to bring anyone to the ballpark.

Former Twins #1 draft pick Tyler Jay has signed a Minor League deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. Brewers, Tyler Jay Agree To Minor League Deal - MLB Trade Rumors After being drafted #1 in 2015, he finally debuted in MLB last year splitting time between the NY Mets and the Brewers. Highest level with Minnesota was AA.

I'll miss him on the broadcasts. He has always been one of my favorites. His analysis was good, but some of his stories were even better. Broadcasts need more storytelling and much less data science BS.

This is my favorite thread, in fact one of the only reasons I come to this site. I enjoy following, and sometimes reporting on, the on-going careers of our (mostly) beloved former Twins. Let's go!

Good news for former Twin, and a favorite of mine, Rob Refsnyder, who had his option picked up by the Red Sox. Solid, versatile player. Red Sox Exercise Club Option On Rob Refsnyder - MLB Trade Rumors

Former Twins pitching great Tyler Mahle returns to the mound tonight for the Rangers, who gave him a $22MM contract during the off season. https://x.com/BallySportsSW/status/1820667789771960528 In a related note, Spencer Steer, whom was one of three players traded for Mahle, continues having a decent career for the Reds--15 HR (would be 2nd on Twins), 65 RBI (would lead the Twins) so far this season.

What a dreadful spring. I hope this is one of those years where we look back and say "See! Spring Training records are entirely meaningless." Last 10 year's World Series participants' Spring Training records. Two teams had losing records including last year's Rangers team. The 2016 Cubs (11-19) come closest to this year's Twins futility. 2023 Texas Rangers: 13-15 2022 Houston Astros: 8-5 2021 Atlanta Braves: 15-13 2020 LA Dodgers: 13-7 2019 Washington Nationals: 17-12 2018 Boston Red Sox: 22-9 2017 Houston Astros: 15-15 2016 Chicago Cubs: 11-19 2015 KC Royals: 20-10 2014 SF Giants: 17-12
