    This is why guys have to pass physicals after a trade. It would have been unwound, which would have been an embarrassment. To the original comment, this does make a decision to add for this season more questionable, especially when they know Buxton is going to be a question mark the rest of this season, too. I also think it explains why the trading was pretty light either way.

    I'll remain skeptical, but I think it's apparent that they are not as monolithic as we used to think.

    I think this is a pretty spot on take. I hate the Pohalds as much as the next guy, but at least it feels different. The only thing I'd question is whether Tom wants out. I think he's enjoying it more than he thought he would. But I could see him being smart enough to make the right moves that actually improve value and put them in a far better position to sell at the right price, unlike his brother.

    Are you kidding? That was the owner representative that said they needed to cut after that season. Prior versions of Pohlad have said **** like "we want to be competitive while making good financial decisions". I also think it's becoming apparent that Tom didn't have anything to do with this business until he came on this year.

    I think it's entirely possible we finally have an owner representative that understands that spending money might actually be a formula for making more money.

    It was the same with Mauer in his era. Every trade deadline we needed dozens of articles about him not going anywhere. Apparently they generate click results.

    This feels like the reason to basically skip a start for Prielipp to cut down innings if anything.

    Serious question...does anyone else think Tom has been quiet since these initial comments as he's seen the difficulty in actually living up to them? I suspect he is wishing he had said that differently and is kind of learning the hard way why prior Pohlads have felt better just staying quiet.

    This is the answer. Gardy rode TK's reputation for good defenses, but I saw with my own eyes at Spring Training it's because TK was still doing the work on the field while Gardy laughed with the guys. As TK stepped away, this got lost. He was uniquely relentless on developing players vs. counting on talent.

    He sounds like he's calling an A game, not an MLB game. I can't place why, but it's something in the style and phrasing.

    Falvey owns the deadline, not Zoll. I only thought of him as a behind the scenes guy at the deadline, but maybe I missed something.

    We'll see how the move turns out, but I say at least a little bit of credit goes to Zoll for apparently being more decisive than the prior regime.

    I'm so glad Tommy P has now had the entire month of April to "see what we've got in the guys we have". No one could have predicted that this bullpen would be a mess.

    It's an objective way to measure the decline in fan interest. But with ticket giveaways, etc., it's a moving target.

    I wonder what the attendance count would be if they hadn't given away tickets for these games. That wasn't an accident as a way to bump these numbers.
