Yes, I am sure there is some sort of "prove it" process in order for MLB to approve this.

Solano is at 1B with Julien the DH. Buxton not in the lineup, nor would I expect him to be IF there is a game 5. He'll be a bench bat.

I don't expect anyone but Solano to play 1B. Farmer would go there before Julien IMO. But you could also DH Royce and put Farmer at 3B and Julien at 1B. If we advance, I fear Joey Gallo will be on the ALCS roster.

Kirilloff wasn't hitting, I'm fine with this. Would have been more fun if Julien was at 1B, with Polanco, Correa and Lewis making up the rest of the infield, and seeing if Buxton at DH could whip up some out-of-the-blue magic, but I'm sure most wouldn't be thrilled to let Julien continue his defensive apprenticeship at first in a do-or-die game.

Kirilloff's shoulder was OK this whole, but today he "cant swing a bat?

I noticed AK was wearing a brace on his right hand/arm. I think that is the same side as his wrist that was operated on. It has been reported that he has continuing treatment for both his wrist and shoulder. 
 

I’ve thought all along Kirilloff could be a difference maker, but he’s not been the elite hitter I have hoped he would be.

I'm all for sitting Kirilloff down...he's doing zippo anyway, but I don't know about activating Buxton. I don't want to see him at DH tonight, or for game 5 WHEN we win tonight. Very strange move even if AK is really hurt.

What were the alternatives?

Gallo? He plays 1B better than anyone else on the roster. 

Luplow? No lefties in the pen with the possible exception of Valdez. Texas has several and I look forward to that discussion.

Gordon? His readiness is as unknown as Buxton’s.

I do trust that Kirilloff can’t play. His glove was valuable game 2 and in spite of the error in game 3 he would still be my 1B defensively to close out the game if healthy,

His shoulder was progressively getting worse. He was never at 100% all year. Just good enough to play and last night he hurt it in a AB and that is why solano came in for him.
