Will be interesting to see, but my guess is that the new Mets people don’t care what his medical records say.

Glad the Twins didn't get back in on that. There was just no way this deal would ever be reasonable.

Taking cost of living and higher taxes into account, Correa is almost certainly making less net money on that Mets contract.

I wonder what the Twins front office is thinking this morning? Did they plan to take stock of the situation today and consider a new offer, or had they already decided to keep moving in whatever direction they just chose? Did Boras give them a head's up that the Mets made an offer? I would think they knew what was going on and chose to stay out of it, but it would be interesting to know how it all played out.

Per the NY Post, the Mets will be paying a luxury tax in the general area (Edit: per MLB.com, the luxury tax will be "over $50 million this year")/ Wow. I wonder how many years Cohen will be willing to pay that? Looks like the owners of the Marlins will have more money to pocket next year.

I’m not sure what the tax situation is like in either state, but San Fran isn’t exactly the cheapest place to live. The financials are probably pretty comparable, the difference is NY is ready to win right, and SF has several parts that need to be addressed.

True, but he also just gave up 50 million extra dollars with the NY deal. That counts as well.  

The top CA state income tax rate is higher than in NY, but property taxes are higher in NY and there are lots of details that will affect the tax paid.

Regardless, Correa better be telling himself that he’s ready to see this contract through. Boras (I think he’s his agent) too. Back tracking on a contract will make every GM hesitant in the future, and Correa just did himself some PR damage. 

EDIT:  That comment was under the assumption that Correa and Boras were back-tracking.  I didn't stop to consider that this was a change brought-on by the alleged issue with his physical that came up.  If that was the case and SF wanted to renegotiate then I can see why Correa went elsewhere to get something comparable to the deal he had on the table.

All of  the sudden my 11 for $313 looks a lot like (maybe even a little better) than 12 for $315.

Sounds like the 11 years $313 Million I proposed 12 hours ago might just have gotten the job done.  Seems the medical issue was only a 13 year issue and 11 or 12 years would be just fine.

Independent of what Correa does, signing Gallo was a big mistake. I admire SF's ability to see that they made a mistake and quickly admit that and resolve it. I wished that our FO had the same character trait, instead of not admitting their mistake & resolve it, they double down. Making a bad situation worse. That is my point.

Mets probably had the second highest offer out there. If the Twins had come back higher, the Mets would probably just raise the price somewhat.

So SF made a mistake and resolved it by making up a fake medical issue??  I mean if that is truly the case then SF will have a tough time ever signing any free agent.  I mean if Boras thinks SF did something wrong then he will convince all of his clients to go elsewhere.  So I think something really came up and Correa pivoted.  I sure hope SF didn't get buyers remorse.

I'm not saying SF faked anything, I'm saying they found a way out & they took it. Correa isn't crying either, he wants to be a NYM.

Have to think that after all the talk about Correa wanting the highest contract ever for a shortstop, he really changed his mind quick. Maybe he didn't want to wait until the Mets had second thoughts about the physical?
