"To who this may concern! I’ve left camp for a week or 2 for personal matters. I’m healthy and excited for this year. I’ll be back shortly. Love you all #MNTwins"

I hope all is well with the lefty and his family.

EDIT:

Adding MLBTR link, since Twitter link looks like it gets blocked in some cases

It must be pretty serious, considering he's a bubble player that had a shot at making the team with a strong camp.

Hoping that all ends up well with whatever is going on.

Coming into Spring training I thought that Thorpe and Romero were the two guys who had the best chance to play themselves onto the opening day roster. Unfortunately, missing time is going to make it difficult for either to win a roster spot.

Family and health should always come before baseball. Assuming it is related in someway, I respect Thorpe for leaving, and have no worries that he'll play himself back onto the major league roster, if not in 2020 then in 2021.

Fire/cleanup related was my firrst thought too, but then i started suspecting that if it were, he'd have said so.  Sounds like something more personal.  Now I'm crossing my fingers that it's something happy like birth of a child.

I think it is good to remind ourselves that these players are human beings with families who run into issues much like us. It won't do much good to speculate, but perhaps the distraction of an issue in Australia is more of a disruption that leaving camp to deal with it.

Again, like Romero, Thorpe has options remaining and it won't be the end of the world if he is optioned and he could easily pitch himself back to the major league club at some point in the season.

As a talent, I have no questions about Thorpe. While this is a setback for any sort of "immediate" contribution, long term I don't believe it will affect his status and future contributions more than say a bad ankle or something.

As a person, I hope for the best for him. I'm guessing family. He seems like a tough and resilient kid, but he's already been through a lot. I wish him the best and hope this is something not really bad.

I hate to say it, but selfishly as a Twins fan and a fan of Thorpe himself, I hope it works out soon and for the best.

Sad to see this news, certainly must be serious considering the point Thorpe's at right now in his career and the opportunity in front of him. Wishing him the best!

And it's honestly more convenient now that during the season.

It's not perfect timing, but when does life work out that way?

Exactly.  Absolutely nothing hurt if they both start in AAA as depth

Wow, with all that flight time he had what a day and a half there? Glad (hope) it is resolved.

{edit} If he was taking time off to talk with his parents who came here (note below), than that makes more sense.  Hope all is well with him.

Reusse made some non-specific comments on the "Baseball with Reusse" podcast. (SKOR North).

I inferred a lot from them, but wont put my speculation here.

Parents came here to visit. No clarification made other than needing personal time to get himself right.

Yeah, I had a great chat with his parents on Monday morning. We were watching Lewis throw in the bullpen and talked for a good 15 minutes. Good people. Saw them again on the back fields yesterday (Tuesday).
