blindeke Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 woof. not a great start to his Twins' career is it
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never seen anything like this in all my following baseball. Maybe it has happened, but I can't remember.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Tough start for Sam as a Twin. Let's hope he comes back soon, healthy and effective! Really glad they got Romo and also gives credence to the old saw "you can't ever have enough pitching".
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 I wonder if we would have a case against the Giants here. Probably not. It's very possible they were not even aware of an existing injury.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Smeltzer recalled and starting today. I hope he didn't just fly in this morning.
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 I actually feel bad for Falvey, having to relay that news. Because I sure hope they didn't think that makes this whole case look better, it doesn't.
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Well, it's like they say, "In Baseball, you see something new every day." I don't recall anything more disastrous than this and I have been an avid fan since 1991.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 His last outing for SF was just fine, right? 1 hit in 1 IP, earning a Hold. We broke him. No refunds. Did Falvey give any indication of the nature of the injury?

It's very possible they were not even aware of an existing injury. Falvey thought Dyson was probably hurting before the trade (words to that effect) but then also said he only expects this to go 10 days. So, make of that what you will. It’s radio, where words fly a little looser than print. Sid was only half-alert during the Falvey segment, but made an interesting comment afterwards—don’t they give these guys physicals when they show up anymore?
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 Biceps tendinitis was the call

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Biceps tendinitis was the callBeen there, had that.
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 You would have thought it would have lowered the price on Dyson in the trade talks if they thought he was hurting before the trade.
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Well, it's like they say, "In Baseball, you see something new every day." I don't recall anything more disastrous than this and I have been an avid fan since 1991. Bret Boone comes to mind.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Been there, had that. What kind of aircraft did you fly on to cause that injury?
Darius Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Call it luck, or whatever you’d like to call it. But this is the difference between the Astros and Twins right now. They acquire Aaron Sanchez off the scrap heap (6+ ERA) and he comes in and combines for a no hitter. We acquire a guy with a long track record who comes in and nearly blows two games then hits the IL.
Rigby Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 What kind of aircraft did you fly on to cause that injury? Biplane ?
rkevin Provisional Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Biceps tendinitis was the callLOL. Seriously. LOL.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 LOL. Seriously. LOL.You've obviously never had bicep tendonitis before.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 What kind of aircraft did you fly on to cause that injury?I think this is the punchline to the punchline of the "and boy are my arms tired" joke.
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Can we get Davis back at least?
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2019 Author Posted August 4, 2019 LOL. Seriously. LOL.The timing does seem funny/ironic. If Dyson can come back and start getting outs, I think this little episode will be just a footnote in the 2019 season.
brvama Provisional Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Don’t know anything about this malady but is it possible that the circus of events for him set this up, such as fatigue, adrenaline, and over pitching? In any case, this may be a blessing as he’ll have time now to reset and start anew when he returns, hopefully.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Well, now with our Dyson broken we can go back to sweeping like we did earlier in the season.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 I’m fine with this as long as he’s effective when he gets back. Is this only the second reliever to hit the IL this year? That’s crazy!
LaBombo Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Well, now with our Dyson broken we can go back to sweeping like we did earlier in the season. A highly reliable Youtube video says that The Shark is a better value than Dyson, so maybe the Twins should start hoping that lefty PH Gerardo Parra becomes available as a waiver acquisition.
