    Ok, sure, the roster kinda sucked even before we put 44% of the players out on the curb with a cardboard 'FREE!' sign on them like a broken NordicTrack. But the important thing is that Falvey took the time last Friday on Inside Twins (two minutes according to the article!) to share his vision for a Twins team years from now that's... well...less soul-crushingly disappointing. And if there's one thing Twins fans love, it's an idea man who can sell us on a future concept without getting bogged down in the details...

    A team's ability to execute fundamentals at a high level can blind a front office to their roster's deficiencies in raw talent. The reverse of high ability masking poor fundamentals is also somewhat true. Fortunately for the Twins organization, their inability to execute and their failure to field sufficient talent are making both issues impossible for the front office to miss.

    If the season keeps going down this path, we shouldn't be too surprised if we see Rocco confront his players with a 9mm and some tighty whiteys.

    Rocco basically doing the manager equivalent of competently driving a Pontiac Aztek, which will still suck no matter how well you drive it.

    Really hoping the Twins can avoid a defensive gaffe in the top of the 9th so they can preserve that excellent 2-1 advantage in hits to errors.

    They're a game out of last, but they can't separate themselves from the pack in the race to the bottom. But don't worry, there's still a lot of awful baseball left.

    It would also be a little more impressive if those 93 pitches got him farther than 5 innings, or if it had lowered his ERA to something better than a half-run under 10.0. But a good start is a good start, and like the old saying goes... cellar dwelling mediocrities can't be choosers.

    Gamecast win probability has Royals at 75% likely to win. That sounds about right for 2 generic and evenly matched teams in the current situation, and 20% too low for the Royals leading the Twins. Edit: 86% Royals win after the Twins' half of the 8th and that still seems low.

    Just for a second I read this as "Goodbye, Larnach" and was like 'Don't they usually wait until after the game to announce that an injury is season-ending?'
