His stats are terrible... makes me wonder if he is injured?

He has command issues with his curve ball so every one is sitting on his fastball and pounding it.

They're not messing around now.

Considering who got the start today, and some of other guys they're still going to run out of the 'pen, I'm not ready to say the gloves are off yet. I'll at least wait to see the corresponding move.

Because if his last 2.2 innings?

That seems awful rash for the most consistent BP arm the previous three years.

No. He leads the team with an ERA of 9.28

Pressly? Wouldn't be a surprise given the workload he had last year, especially in the first half.

Breslow? He hasn't been good for years. Why would he be good now?

Breslow may not be good. He does his job.

I only look at the current stats.

Pressly: 10.2 IP  9.28 ERA

Breslow: 10.1 IP 2.61 ERA

This is all I asked from the new front office to open the season. Give the roster a chance and then cut fast and furious as you see a lack of results.

There was some wisdom in giving every available 40 man asset in the org a shot. Tonkin and Santana were unlikely to do well, but they had some tools to give one last crack. A month did minimal harm to the team/season and you move on.

Look, we still have Tepesch and Rucinski on the 40-man roster, two more spots that should open up. The young position players hav it going, time to let the young pitchers have a shot. Baxendale, Busewitz, Hildenberger, Burdi, Melo, and Shaggy waiting in the wings, plus Mejia, Berrios and even Slegers would have been better than Tepesch.

Not to mention we still have Boshers holding down a 40-man spot. At least we don't have Park holding one while on the ml DL.

Its good to see the moves, this is the kind of action I was hoping for except that the replacements have all been fringe players and I want to see the prospects.

The decision on Tonkin was based as much on his past struggles as they were in his current performance.

Why would anyone make a decision based on ten innings? He's been their best reliever the past three years. Would you drop a starter after two rough starts? That's about what this sample size is.

And that's kinda what I wanted them to do. Give the guys on the fringe a shot and move on if it doesn't work. It appears that is happening.

I still think the bullpen should have been addressed in a more meaningful fashion but the guys they picked up haven't exactly killed the team. Mostly what I wanted was to see them sort through the chaff of Santana, Tonkin, Pressly, et al and decide what needed to be discarded.

Santana, Gibson and Tonkin never should have been on the roster to begin with. Better late than never I suppose.

Watching it fly, like Jim Thome

Love to Brslow... a few more try's because of his leadership... but, Pressly must turn it around quickly... or else...

Great to see this happening. TR would have kept Tonkin, Gibby and Santana on the roster the whole year, then offer them arb with a big raise. So what do we have now, all 3 gone and 1/2 game out of 1st. I like it.

i get that Polanco made the brutal error that sparked the Sox runs.

But what, supposedly, is his upside as either a starter or reliever on this team?

Sure, he had an opt out date coming up, but is he likely to be someone who significantly helps the Twins compete?

Right now they are competing in a weak division. Few have suggested that they will remain competitive but who knows given this division.

It is still very early in the season. I hope the Twins will go with Berrios in the rotation. Telescope for the long haul does not promote confidence.

When the initial roster was set, there was a fair amount of angst. My statement at the time is the roster would remain somewhat fluid the entire year and April would be treated, roster wise, almost like EST. And that's exactly the way this has played out.

Adriana replaced DanSan. I think this is at least a slight upgrade. If Santana goes unclaimed, personally, I'd like him to sign with Rochester. There is still talent and ability there. Perhaps it could yet flourish with AAA time.

I believe the pitching staff is going to probably remain fluid the next couple of weeks. I'm not sure how much the Twins will need a 5th starter the next couple of weeks, but right now, looks like they don't have a 4th starter either. Is it Berrios time with Tepesch in the pen as a long man until Haley comes back? Shaggy isn't an option for the pen right now. I find it difficult to believe they will reach down to AA for Burdi or Melotakis at this time, though both should be in Rochester soon.

Considering what he's done previously, even at the beginning of this season, I wouldn't be quick to dump Pressly. He's struggling a bit right now, but it's still early, he has the arm, and stats for relievers can be volatile, and a couple bad appearance can be quickly magnified.

But I would go ahead and use an option and see what Melotakis can do,

This is my current bugaboo, so, sorry, but... Melo is on the 40-man and is currently playing in the minors, therefore his option for 2017 is already exercised. Move him up and down, as desired, the rest of the season.

Since he has not been outrighted before, if Santana passes claims he will be outrighted to Rochester.  (Same with Tonkin, btw)

I await with fascination to see if NY one snags them.

Personally, I'd love to see Detroit or the WSux snag both of them...

Good luck to Tonkin. Though I have a suspicion that he'll clear waivers rather easily and be sent to Rochester.

Definitely possible.  A pitcher who throws 97 isn't quite so rare in other organizations.
