About time.

Melotakis and Burdi are lights out in AA.  Melotakis has a 40-man spot, but Burdi would need one.

so Melo comes up? Ruc... guy goes down for Berrios, Tepesch to long relief? Or Breslow gets DFAd keep Ruc and Tepesch for long guys. These short starts are tough on the BP....

It is nice to see the Twins pull the trigger early on these pitching moves. Hopefully we have the talent in the farm system to strengthen this weaking bullpen.

What about Pressly?

He hasn't given up a run in his last 4 outings.  I think he should be sleeping well at night.

As for Tonkin, good riddance.  Maybe he catches on elsewhere, who knows.  Would be nice to see the Twins bring up some prospects and try to win games.  Lots of bumps and bruises on this team right now and there are guys chomping at the bit to have a cup of coffee.

Breslow is doing fine, better than most of the bullpen guys. Pressly should be the odd man out.

Would be nicer if some of those prospects were healthy. Wouldn't surprise me if the Twins brought up a position player tomorrow. How many pitchers do they need for one game with Ervin starting? Zach Granite maybe if they think he is ready.

Are you sure? Didn't he just give up a run today? Look at his team 'leading' ERA: 9.28

Breslow has not been half bad.  Really.  Rucinski was better than Tepesch, but this does not say much.  Baxendale or Busenitz might also be in the equation.

I'm glad to see Tonkin and Santana go. Not sure who his replacement will be but at least they're through with Tonkin. Wonder if it will be one of Busenitz, Hildenberger, or Baxendale.

Pressly last four outings stats: 2.2 innings pitched 3 runs allowed

He should join Tonkin shortly

Sorry, I was looking at stats page that wasn't yet updated with today's info, and I didn't stick around after that 8-run 2nd inning to see the carnage!

At this point, I'm not so much worried about winning games as I'm about getting different players up so we're not doing the "the more things change, the more they stay the same" routine.

It's looking like the new management wanted to make sure what they'd been seeing is actually what they'd been seeing before getting rid of players.

I think the questionable players were being given one more chance to show they had something.

Also, this is the kind of thing that lets a team know the FO isn't screwing around and expects results.

Do you think the organization would go that deep into the system or are those the best options available?

With the way the Twins have screwed up promotions from AA, I'm a bit leery of promoting from AA ball.

As I said earlier, Baxendale and Busenitz are for sure also in play.  And based on the way this FO has been for the people they got to the team, Nick Turley should also be game.

If it were me, I'd call up both Melotakis and Burdi and say see you later to Pressly.

Haley also will need to be added back into the mix at some point.

Would say they will get a legit fifth starter up. Not sure what they are doing for the fourth. Press has to be on the bubble.

But I would go ahead and use an option and see what Melotakis can do, give Teasch one more shot, as well as Rucinski, before claiming their roster spots open, for now.

But quite frankly, the Santana and Tonkin decisions needed to be made last fall, if not during spring training, sadly.

The Gibson decision probably should have been made last fall as well.

Breslow isn't "bad" he's just barely pitched. Seems like there's only enough room for one lefty and Rogers is clearly better.

His stats are terrible... makes me wonder if he is injured?

Because of his last 2.2 innings?

That seems awful rash for the most consistent BP arm the previous three years.
