Your expectation is that they have a starter caliber depth after losing their primary 3B (Lewis), Their primary LF (Wallner), their #1 back-up (Castro), their 4rd option Keaschall who was doing great, their 5th option (Eeles) who is hurt? An organization is in trouble when they have to scramble as a result of this many injuries? Where exactly are they supposed to acquire a solid starter a month into the season? This going after other teams DFA players is getting old and worn out. I think Clemens can help but really, come on. What or who did we trade to get him? Maybe his dad, Roger Clemens, can pitch once in a while. Really sucks about Keashall getting hurt. He brought some life to the team. He could be out 2 months. So sad. We'll we have a deep bench now don't we? Like what? Teams don't trade good players in May. Doctor Wu 1

And to add, the Twins have players like Tanner Schobel and others who could be an improvement over the quad-A castoffs currently occupying the 26 man roster, but may not be ready yet and don’t want to derail their development or start their service time clock yet. there’s more at stake than the 2025 big league club, including the 40 man roster when guys start getting healthy. I am open to critique if I am missing something. The back end of the 40 man roster isn't for your 38th, 39th and 40th best guys. It's for guys who are lower, maybe 45th or so. These guys get DFA'd frequently so you can bring up other guys in that 45th or so range. Scott Blewett is a prime example. He has pitched great for two teams and been DFA'd both times (actually passed through waivers for the Twins once this year). But now he's pitching good enough that he isn't passing through waivers. Bride and Clemens will both be DFA'd by the Twins when Lewis, Castro and Keaschall get healthy (or even Martin). McCaughan is pitching so well that if the Twins call him up again and try to DFA him, he may go the way of Blewett. As for depth, we had Lee, Julien, Keaschall, Martin, Gasper at 2B. Lee has to play 3B now and Keaschall and Martin are injured. The 40 man can only hold so much depth at each position and it's not often that 3 injuries affect one position all at once. Luckily this didn't happen at SS where don't have the kind of depth we had at 2B. AlGoreRythm, Mike Sixel, Patzky and 1 other 4

They still have three guys that can play the left side in case on goes down in a game. They have enough that can 1B and 2B. I don’t see the need for both Clemons and Bride. I would have preferred they call up McCusker and put him at DH. They still can do that. They can option Gasper and bring up McCusker but now they need a 40 spot. Instead they can DFA Bride which will create the 40 spot and maybe he will pass through waivers. I agree with you. McCusker would have been my choice. He's 27... He's hitting the ball right now. Hitting it hard. We need players who are hitting it hard. When someone is swinging the bat well... that would be the perfect time to give him a moment instead of granting someone else another moment. After seeing Falvey foraging on the DFA fields this year and the quality (sic) obtained, why not propose to Pohlad that Twinsdaily.com will sacrifice a member from readership. Cash goes to the website. Every member names are placed in a hat (https://www.random.org), and Seth picks the winner. Previous experience is not an issue. Church league softball, tavern team hardball, college ball. If none of those exist, Little League stats will do; sandlot if LL was skipped. Doctor Wu Verified Member Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 The Twins were able to outright Diego Cartaya from the 40-man roster earlier on Friday, so Clemens' addition will not need a corresponding move on the 40-man roster. The first part of the article mentioned "trading" for Clemens. I may have missed it, but did we actually trade anyone to get him? I don't see any other names mentioned except that we outrighted Cartaya.

(Julien / Castro / Lee / Martin / Eeles / Gasper and Keaschall). They had Bader / Keirsey / Castro / Martin as outfield depth and perhaps McCusker and Holland could be added to the list. That's a lot of back-up. This number of injuries is just nuts. I really hated losing Keaschall. He injected some life in this team. I was looking forward to getting Wallner and Lewis back with him and Buck is going better now. Those 4 playing well together would be an end to the boring baseball we have seen so far. Mike Sixel 1

Or that adding that player from the minors for a few games to be a bench backup until Lewis comes back, which is just a few days away, would hurt the team. Ok, sure. Clemens is not starter caliber depth either.
NotAboutWinning Verified Member Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 I think this is more of a FO issue of 40 man roster and service time management. Both of which seem to squander youth at AAA.
