Good news for game threaders: I have other plans tonight that will preclude me from watching or listening to the game. That means you won't have to listen to me gripe about Apple TV during the game. I'll get that out of the way with just this one post.

Don't we all! :)

NSBB had a poster named Fred HornKohl. He used to provide a post at the beginning of every game thread (maybe 2nd or 3rd in) outlining various stats including things like pitcher records, batters against opp pitchers, but also win/loss streaks, Cubs record that year on that day (Tuesday, Wed, etc), game records that month, in the weather for the day etc. He was a great guy. Even if the Cubs were having a lousy season, you could point to some stat he gave and say "WE CAN WIN THIS!"

He died months before the 2016 WS, the gamethread forum carries his name.

that 108 year stretch gets a lot of jokes and rightfully, but try and find a more dedicated fanbase

I'm presuming that right handed hitters will be in the lineup vs. the lefty. Which lefty gets to stay in?

The first baseman.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Apple tv !

Don't care one way or another about appletv.

But I already pay for Twins broadcasts, and they're stealing those from me.

I thought the production of the ATV broadcast was slick, but did not care much for the announcers themselves.

Having Polanco and Farmer back will hopefully beef up the production vs. a lefty.  Fingers crossed, and Go Twins!

For seven starts, Smyly has severe reverse splits. LH hitters have an OPS of .874 while RH hitters are at .521.

Tonight's Twins Lineup:

  1. Buxton - DH
  2. Solano -1B
  3. Correa - SS
  4. Farmer - 3B
  5. Polanco - 2B
  6. Castro - RF
  7. Taylor - CF
  8. Vazquez - C
  9. Gordon - LF

Nick Gordon? Okay, I guess.

Vasquez gets another majority start vs Jeffers who had been pegged for playing vs Lefties.  Makes me laugh that Vasquez hasn't played a full game in about a week because he hasn't been good.  Gets pinch-hit for late in games and we thought it was Jeffers who was the weakest link. I guess it is FO mandate if we pay Multi $$MM's on the guy, play him no matter what is the memo to Rocco.  Jeffers has been very serviceable especially getting such random time behind dish.

1. You're watching Ted Lasso and already have ATV+.

2. You don't have ATV+ and should be watching Ted Lasso.

I will always echo the praise of Ted Lasso.  It's so wholesome!

Between the Cubs and White Sox. The Cubs drought was 108 years and the White Sox was 87 I think. 1917-2004? Thank God Chicago had the Black Hawks, Bears, and Bulls to cheer. Before 2016 the Cubs biggest memory was the Homer in the gloamin. Whatever the heck that was

There is a good option for easily catching all these games, which I did last week. Go to Best Buy and search for the free 3 month Apple TV trial. Add it to your cart and check out. You will get an email with the product and just follow the instructions. Easy peasy and will work for much of the season.

Thanks for sharing!  I'll have free Apple TV for the game tonight.

I think I'm going to go into every non-Apple TV game thread and whine multiple times about how much it costs to subscribe to cable even though I don't subscribe to cable.
