  1. good point about GM's. I think the difference in their approach has to do with Cousins vs Fields. Cousins was an established franchise QB when Kwesi started, Fields had just finished his rookie season. Rebuilding with Cousins makes no sense, but rebuilding while your QB is real green is almost ideal because it frees up payroll so much and allows you to find younger guys to grow with the QB (in theory). But there are Bears fans who hate the rebuild. The reasoning is that rebuilding is hard to do, doesn't always work, inst really necessary in today's NFL given the way so many contracts aren't guaranteed. Teams go from worst to first nearly every year, so why invest in any rebuild that is more than 1 offseason? I disagree with what you are saying about the Lions, they beat the Pack lat last year and look very much like a franchise that has turned a corner. They quite honestly worry me a bit. But I do agree with you on the Vikings, its their division to lose...so far.
  2. no, that one was about Justin Fields. It was also several days (week) ago.
  3. just here to pay my respects. I am old enough to remember the very tale end of the 70's vikings teams playing my Bears, Grant was a great coach
  4. actually, the post is about a Viking, Cook
  5. It is crowded, but Herbert is a liability in pass protection and not a great receiving option. Forman might be better at the former, not great for the later. I think Johnson might be more well rounded then either, but Cook certainly should be. I dont think the Bears would pick up Cook, I think Poles and Eberflus are happy with the 3 they have. But I always think on the side of "what makes the team better" and Cook certainly would
  6. what the hell is wrong with Dalvin Cook? (shut up dummy., let the vikings get rid of their star rb and maybe the Bears can nab him cheap)
  7. I love that tirade. Too bad Elia was wrong about baseball...
  8. new look minnesota northstars, i thought
  9. good win for you guys today. tomorrow is the tie breaker,....GO Cubs!
  10. Cubs have a terrible bullpen. If the twins get to Wesneski early, they could have a big game. But, Wesneski has been decent more recently...
  11. man, its a good thing Fields has proven everything he's had to prove everywhere he's been, or I'd be worried
  12. nah, just trying to joke with the board, but these are fickle topics I think the Bears have a lot of potential with Fields, I couldn't believe he fell to us. He certainly has a lot to prove yet, and Poles (Bears GM) is making moves that at first blush seem puzzling, but after some research and digesting look pretty solid if not good. But for the rest of the division: I very happy that GB looks to be headed to cellardome, hopefully for decades. If they find HoF QB #3 in a row .......... I dont even know why I mention it. Detroit looks legit and solid up and down the roster save QB, but even he played well last year. The Vikings? I feel like they are aging, but they have a pretty damn good QB (+ Jefferson) and in the NFL you are never out of it if you have that.
  13. well, its the Vikings. They'll find a way
  14. 6-12. that bye week will be a brutal one for ya'll
  15. question about the thread title; doesn't every Vikings offseason start at the end of the regular season? Its not like they could win a super bowl lol BEAR DOWN
  16. I think Lamar is part of a younger generation of players who dont see agents as being focused on their best interests, right or wrong. I'm also fairly sure that "professional athlete arrogance" is also playing a part here. Regardless, its weird seeing a QB of his level in such an ambiguous situation.
  17. where do they mine that pixie dust anyway? luckiest sonsabiches i've ever seen! I grew up in the nw corner of illinois. All my childhood friends were Cub fans or Cardinal fans. I'm a child of the 80's so names like Dawson, Dunston, Ozzie are all relevant still, it wasnt a bad way to grow up at all,
  18. trust me if we could, the first thing we'd do is contract the cardinals or send the franchise to exile in winnepeg
  19. I've been a member of northsidebaseball since 2003. trust me, you dont know cesspool game threads until you hang out with a bunch of suffering Cub fans i'll be fine ;)
  20. anyway, I know live in the Seattle area and see more Mariner games, have for the last 14 years. I grad'd with a Masters in Architecture from the U. Still love the TC area. But I grew up in Illinois, and right up until I was accepted at the U, i was an Illini fan. not so much anymore thank you all for not beating me up too bad!
  21. smart woman!
  22. see, I preferred old Comisky. new Com is monstrosity, I think Target Field is 10,000s better in that division. but, growing up a cubs fan, my first mlb game was at Wrigley and I still love it. I just hate the ownership mainly, and I dont care if its hard to get to because it sells out anyway - if the team is good. besides 2016 was an unbelievable year to see a game there, I've never felt that old stadium buzz like that leading up to Oct.
