  1. good point about GM's. I think the difference in their approach has to do with Cousins vs Fields. Cousins was an established franchise QB when Kwesi started, Fields had just finished his rookie season. Rebuilding with Cousins makes no sense, but rebuilding while your QB is real green is almost ideal because it frees up payroll so much and allows you to find younger guys to grow with the QB (in theory). But there are Bears fans who hate the rebuild. The reasoning is that rebuilding is hard to do, doesn't always work, inst really necessary in today's NFL given the way so many contracts aren't guaranteed. Teams go from worst to first nearly every year, so why invest in any rebuild that is more than 1 offseason? I disagree with what you are saying about the Lions, they beat the Pack lat last year and look very much like a franchise that has turned a corner. They quite honestly worry me a bit. But I do agree with you on the Vikings, its their division to lose...so far.
  2. no, that one was about Justin Fields. It was also several days (week) ago.
  3. just here to pay my respects. I am old enough to remember the very tale end of the 70's vikings teams playing my Bears, Grant was a great coach
  4. actually, the post is about a Viking, Cook
  5. It is crowded, but Herbert is a liability in pass protection and not a great receiving option. Forman might be better at the former, not great for the later. I think Johnson might be more well rounded then either, but Cook certainly should be. I dont think the Bears would pick up Cook, I think Poles and Eberflus are happy with the 3 they have. But I always think on the side of "what makes the team better" and Cook certainly would
  6. what the hell is wrong with Dalvin Cook? (shut up dummy., let the vikings get rid of their star rb and maybe the Bears can nab him cheap)
  7. I love that tirade. Too bad Elia was wrong about baseball...
  8. new look minnesota northstars, i thought
  9. good win for you guys today. tomorrow is the tie breaker,....GO Cubs!
  10. Cubs have a terrible bullpen. If the twins get to Wesneski early, they could have a big game. But, Wesneski has been decent more recently...
  11. man, its a good thing Fields has proven everything he's had to prove everywhere he's been, or I'd be worried
  12. I'm not in any way offended. I've been posting the Cubs forum for 20 years and understand what it looks like when frustration goes beyond good natured ribbing, which is why I dropped it where i did last night. earlier in the thread, someone cracked a joke about Morel's name, calling him "mushroom guy" or "fun guy" or whatever. That didnt offend me at all, we've used those nicknames at nsbb (or simular). But the guy has been raking at AAA, being one of the top hitters in the minors to start the season. I couldnt help myself from pointing it out. And yes, calling a game thread on a Twins message board "a thread about a Cubs game" was meant to stir the pot a bit. Its fun when the Cubs have young players show up. I'm not going anywhere and hopefully other posters will get to know me a bit better through time. I love the Gophers (grad'd from Minnesota undergrad and grad), love the TC area and northern MN (lived in TC for 14 years), but I grew up in IL, so my professional sports fandom is all Chicago. bare with me Good luck the rest of the series, and try not to get too pissed off at me :)
  13. close game guys, closer than I'd like. see ya tomorrow
  14. Morel was hitting the snot out of the ball at AAA Iowa. If he continues to hit in the big leagues......
  15. whats up with him? as a Cubs fan, we always oogled him a bit but he seems hot/cold
  16. nah, just trying to joke with the board, but these are fickle topics I think the Bears have a lot of potential with Fields, I couldn't believe he fell to us. He certainly has a lot to prove yet, and Poles (Bears GM) is making moves that at first blush seem puzzling, but after some research and digesting look pretty solid if not good. But for the rest of the division: I very happy that GB looks to be headed to cellardome, hopefully for decades. If they find HoF QB #3 in a row .......... I dont even know why I mention it. Detroit looks legit and solid up and down the roster save QB, but even he played well last year. The Vikings? I feel like they are aging, but they have a pretty damn good QB (+ Jefferson) and in the NFL you are never out of it if you have that.
  17. well, its the Vikings. They'll find a way
  18. 6-12. that bye week will be a brutal one for ya'll
  19. NSBB had a poster named Fred HornKohl. He used to provide a post at the beginning of every game thread (maybe 2nd or 3rd in) outlining various stats including things like pitcher records, batters against opp pitchers, but also win/loss streaks, Cubs record that year on that day (Tuesday, Wed, etc), game records that month, in the weather for the day etc. He was a great guy. Even if the Cubs were having a lousy season, you could point to some stat he gave and say "WE CAN WIN THIS!" He died months before the 2016 WS, the gamethread forum carries his name. that 108 year stretch gets a lot of jokes and rightfully, but try and find a more dedicated fanbase
  20. joking aside, my dad never saw them win the WS. 2016 was a legit big deal..but really we want more
  21. question about the thread title; doesn't every Vikings offseason start at the end of the regular season? Its not like they could win a super bowl lol BEAR DOWN
