Only the second LH starter to face the Twins. Luzardo was tough and Cortes was really good last year. I’d like to see another first inning ambush, but will settle for any win.

Fun Fact:

The two games the Twins won against the Yankees last season had Nestor Cortes as the imperial starter.

I welcome the next data point that shows this to be a trend.

I don't understand why they are having Varland start.  It is Tyler Mahle turn in the rotation. Did something happen?  Or are they doing the Varland does 2-3 innings then Mahle takes over and does 5 innings?

Mahle will go tomorrow. He's getting an extra day, and Maeda is getting skipped (for now).

Pushed Mahle back a day for rest and skipped a Maeda start I guess

Yankees are always tough--especially for the Twins--but we are lucky to be catching them early in the year when most of their stud pitching is on the IL....
