This thread is NOT a discussion thread. This thread is for posting actual transactions only so we have a more streamlined place for posters to look for the 'ups' and 'downs' of the active roster as they happen. If you think any move warrants extra discussion, please start a separate discussion thread. Or if you want to speculate on any upcoming moves, please start a thread, or go to one that is currently active in the forum. Let’s keep this thread streamlined to make it easier to see/find the moves. Thanks! 🙂

I wonder what the corresponding move is. I would guess Henriquez was moved to the 60-day IL.

They're surely not just adding him to the 40-man, but also the major league roster.  Is it stated who goes down?  Moran, I assume.

I'm not sure what success to expect from Stewart, but his good AAA stats are despite an astronomical .467 BA on balls put in play.  Good thing he struck out so many!

Ober was optioned yesterday. Stewart is the corresponding move.

Historically, he's got a non-concerning walk rate too. As far as bullpen arms go, high strikeouts and velocity plus decent walk rates make for great lightening-in-a-bottle candidates.

Correct.

Stewart is the emergency long relief pitcher. This could start the train back and forth from St. Paul. Once Stewart pitches mop up for 4-5 innings in a game, he goes to St. Paul by being DFA'd. Then, Aaron Sanchez or someone similar gets added to the 40 man and does the same thing. Then Rodriguez etc. as we don't want Ober or Varland to be the ones that sit on the Twins bench for two weeks waiting for a short start.

I'm guessing they option Moran and bring up Winder next. Stewart isn't a long reliever but he's been piling up strikeouts as a short reliever.

Headrick is still the long man. Cole Sands figures as his partner on the carousel. Stewart can’t be optioned.

DFA Stewart. Nobody will claim him and he can be back in St. Paul, waiting to do it again like a few guys last year (like Cotton). Maybe's he's not the #1 long man but I don't see him being on the Twins 40 man roster come the end of September.

Are the Twins really going to have Headrick sit on the bench for two weeks if nobody has a short start or we are blowing out someone.

I would think so. It isn't optimum to do so with anyone with upside, but Headrick is/was stretched out enough to go multiple innings and isn't high enough on the prospect ladder that they feel like he needs to be pitching in the roatation every fifth or sixth day.

It will be a performance issue with him. If he pitches well enough to stay, he'll stay, there's really no one pushing for a recall that will also cost a roster spot. If the Twins come up short on arms at some point, he well may be outrighted. I also think Winder will be added to the bullpen when his rehab is over, and the one leaving the major league roster should be from Pagan, Moran and Stewart.

Hopefully the Twins signed up for Uber rewards with the frequency they’re using the MLB/AAA shuttle this year.

Cruel reality. He did his job and his reward is to go to the minors.

I called it in yesterday's game thread.

Not so sure about dumping Stewart just yet. He looked good in his first game back up, so I'd like to see him stay on the team for a while and see how much he can contribute. And if they DID DFA  him, I wouldn't be shocked to see another team claim him.

Trevor Megill to the Brewers for cash or a PTBNL.

Article on mlb traderumors says cash "and" PTBNL.

Don't know how PTBNL work, as it is conceivable maybe cash is always an option?

The initial report I saw said cash "or" a PTBNL. It appears that was incorrect, as was I. Subsequent reports I've seen say cash "and" a PTBNL. That seems to be the deal.
