Message added by Squirrel,

This thread is NOT a discussion thread. This thread is for posting actual transactions only so we have a more streamlined place for posters to look for the 'ups' and 'downs' of the active roster as they happen. If you think any move warrants extra discussion, please start a separate discussion thread. Or if you want to speculate on any upcoming moves, please start a thread, or go to one that is currently active in the forum. Let’s keep this thread streamlined to make it easier to see/find the moves. Thanks! 🙂

Not sure what the corresponding move is, but apparently Derek Rodriguez is on his way to the big club.  He's not on the 40 man, so there should be a couple moves today.

A lot to chew on here. Let’s hope Larnach bangs the door down in St. Paul. I hope Thielbar is not seriously injured and Mahle????

Rodriquez is a long man, Winder multi-innings.

Note to mods— can we comment on this thread or should we start a new one to comment? If the latter is true, feel free to hide or delete this.

REMINDER: To all, start a new thread or check out corresponding threads already in the forums, if you want to take any of these moves into a more in depth discussion. Some posts will be moved, others removed. This thread needs to stay clear of the chatter in order to follow the actual transactions as they happen. Thank you all.

Happy to see Alcala called back up. But with our hitting woes this year, I'm starting to wonder if any of our pitchers have some latent pinch-hitting skills that we can use?

Kepler to the IL with a hammy, and I believe Larnach is coming back to replace him.

40-man room was just made. Dereck Rodriguez apparently was DFAed and claimed by Atlanta. There is now room to add a player (Lewis, Celestino?) to the 40-man roster. Also, if they want to play it that way, they could add a non-roster pitcher.

José De León promoted (contract selected) with Alcalá going on the 15-day IL.

De Leon? I'm surprised, but he is an  interesting choice to get the call-up. I assume they will be using him mostly in the bullpen, but he's started some games in AAA this year too, plus he had that amazing start in the World Baseball tourney this past winter. Let's hope he shows some good stuff!

Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports Kyle Garlick will be recalled from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

Garlick will join the Twins ahead of Friday's series opener against the Angels with the trio of Nick Gordon (shin), Jorge Polanco (hamstring) and Joey Gallo (shin) all dealing with injuries.

Garlick is back again, it's kinda telling that they're bringing him up again instead of Wallner. At least he mashes lefties.

Two lefty starters expected in Anaheim.

Wallner needs to play everyday so I'm not surprised.

He would play everyday up here, except there are two lefty starters. If Gallo goes down, maybe Wallner will egt the call. Waiting on Polanco who, if put down, will mean the return of Julien (over Miranda, right).

Official: Twins website has Gordon on 10-day IL and Kyle Garlick activated. No other moves. ESPN reports Polanco will not be playing tonight.

Edit to add or possibly correct: ESPN's comment was about Tuesday's game which incorrectly said that the Twins were playing against the Twins. No word if Polanco is out of the lineup tonight.

This isn't the time for Wallner. Garlick will be up for this series until Kepler comes back Monday and then will go back down. Wallner's time comes when either Gallo gets hurt, Kepler gets traded, or they decide he's a better bet than Larnach.

Any updates on Gordon? From what I'm hearing, his injury might require putting him on the 60-day IL. Is this one of those long-rest sort of injuries or will he require surgery? Any updates are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A team cannot place a player on the 60 day IL unless it needs to add a player to the 40 man roster.

I would have called him up yesterday before Garlick. If Polance wouldn't have need an IL stint send him back down. One of the moves that just puzzles me.

Here's his chance. I'm not sure if Julien will start tonight against a LH starter but he should get the 2B ABs against RH pitching. We also need a leadoff guy, at least until Lewis can be recalled. He should get 25 ABs or so over the next 10 days. Hope he shows us something. If he does, he can stay ahead of Garlick. Heck, I would dump Garlick now and let Wallner get his ABs once we get past these 2 LH starters.

Twins' right-hander Jorge Alcala was diagnosed with a radial stress fracture in his right forearm.

Alcala landed on the injured list in early May due to a right forearm strain. He'll now be shut down completely until his symptoms subside. He won't be throwing at all for the next two weeks before being re-evaluated. At this stage, there's no clear timeline for his return.

Looks like it might be another lost season for Alcala. Not the news our bullpen needed, but it's not as if he was making a positive impact so far this year.
