This thread is NOT a discussion thread. This thread is for posting actual transactions only so we have a more streamlined place for posters to look for the 'ups' and 'downs' of the active roster as they happen. If you think any move warrants extra discussion, please start a separate discussion thread. Or if you want to speculate on any upcoming moves, please start a thread, or go to one that is currently active in the forum. Let’s keep this thread streamlined to make it easier to see/find the moves. Thanks! 🙂

Farmer, Solano, and Castro making the opening day roster was probably not in a lot of off-season blueprints?

As soon as Farmer and Solano were acquired, it was assumed that they would be on the Opening Day roster. Castro, not so much, but in looking at his profile, he is someone who can do a little of a lot of things with more versatility than anyone on the projected Opening Day roster. Willi was my pick for "most impactful NRI" and I think he well might be.

Do we know where the twins top 30 prospects will start the season?

Check the minor league forum. That news is usually posted there in time. There is usually an article or posting listing each team prior to each team's opening days ... so ... soon. And daily updates with 'how did they fare' each day of the top prospects.

Really amazing how long it takes them to make these moves

Well, they want to run everyone else thru the position first.

Not really.  Quite often they need a couple days to see if it's some sort of strain that will allow the player to return after a couple days.  If they react immediately the players is lost for longer than necessary.  The player that replaced him did not play so nothing was lost.

Why the heck isn't Matt Canterino on the 60 day IL yet? Has this been covered elsewhere? The Twins only have one healthy position player on the 40-man that's not already up at the majors. Shouldn't Canterino be moved ASAP so there's more room for an emergency bat?

They had the exact same situation with Enlow a couple years ago and never put him on the major league 60-day list.

I think because it counts as MLB time\Salary? Only reason I can think of for not wanting to do it but don't know if that is the reason.

it's silly to save a few hundred K only to have a short bench. They waste so much more money than that...

Yeah I don't get it and it is not like Canterino is young he is 25 so even if you are starting the clock it shouldn't really matter especially since he seems likely to be a pen arm.  Still can't think of any other reasons though.

I found something on Wikipedia about the 60-day IL not allowing players injured in the minors to be taken off the 40-man. Of course, I don’t know if it’s accurate or applies to Canterino, but I know for sure the Twins had similar 40-man issues and carried Enlow on the 40-man when he was recovering from TJ surgery.

Yeah, Canterino would have to end up being HOF good if you're actually going to worry about paying him during his age 32 season.

Here is the Wikipedia quote

Players who are on the 40-man roster but become injured while on optional assignment with a minor league team are placed on the minor league IL, but not on the major league IL. One problem this poses is that a player who is injured in the minors and who would be placed on the major league 60-day IL cannot be placed on the 60-day, meaning the 40-man roster spot is not freed up.

They don't need to make a 40 man spot until they were to need to call up a bat. They're not going to do that unless someone on the 26 man goes on the IL.

That should have been 3 days ago.

Either call up Julien, or make a tough decision on someone else. This is ridiculous.

Gallo to the Il.

Julien pulled from the lineup in Indianapolis....

He’ll be here for the game tomorrow, is my guess

Yep, where to play him? Until Polanco returns, I’m guessing he gets second base.

Maybe we are going to see Bux in CF soon? Then he can DH

So the typical "day to day" approach serves the Twins porrly yet again. At the very least if they were contemplating this, and they had to have been, Julien should have been in Minneapolis, not Indianapolis, so they could activate him for tonight.

And who knows if he gets there in time for tomorrow's day game.

Wow, Garlick already and it isn't even May 1. The even sadder thing is he will probably stay on the roster if he hits at all over Wallner and/or Julien until everyone else is ready to come back. Our depth is already being tested. Thank goodness that Solano can play a little.
