Please understand that titles are supposed to get you to click and read the article. Also understand that the title is an excuse to highlight an under appreciated Twins player and is a thought experiment exploring what it means to be a Most Valuable Player, the author is taking a more literal approach(who was most valuable to the team not; who was the best on the team). You may have missed the part where he said he is making the case for SWR, "making the case" is not something you have to do for someone who obviously and clearly should be awarded the title MVP. If you disagree that's fine, make your case. That's what the comment section is for. What the comment section is not for is pithy little statements denigrating the author and making this place more toxic. If you don't want to engage meaningfully with these articles please just keep it to yourself, you don't have to be here

What went wrong for David Festa?
LonelyseatinMOA commented on Eric Blonigen's blog entry in Eric’s deep dive corner
Stuff+ is an awesome tool but I'd pump the brakes a bit it is notably not a great tool for evaluating changeups. It often undervalues them as they are much more location dependent than (not captured by stuff+) and sensitive to the characteristics of the primary fastball (partially captured by stuff+) they are "changing up" on. The average stuff+ rating for any changeup is 87 (as of march 10, 2023). -

Pablo is fine, they have a stretch here with very few off-days and brought up Louie just for the day to give the rotation an extra days rest. Lopez will start the next game. Festa is not on the 40-man roster and can't be brought up without a corresponding move, also he pitched friday and isn't ready to go again today

The Twins are one of 11 teams this year with a winning record. I know they look like a middling team but the offensive environment is down this year, they are not as bad as they look and are currently a wild card team with a relatively easy schedule in front of them. So respectfully I disagree, I don't think they are just as likely to be sellers as buyers. A few key injuries and some continued underperformance in this next stretch of series then yes I'd agree but not at this moment

Did the Twins Players-Only Meeting Save The Team From Itself?

I'm not concerned yet. As far as his sinker goes, I think people are getting a little too hasty for calls to scrap it. It makes sense that its numbers aren't very good for two reasons. 1. he doesn't throw it a lot and this could be a case of the SSS 2. He usually throws it behind in counts where you'd expect him to give up the most damage anyway

A Good Problem to Have: Austin Martin Selected to Return to Triple-A
-
Bowman will be missed, it isn't surprising that some advanced stats didn't like him as they tend not to like groundball pitchers like Bowman. However, I'll be more upset when they send Funderburk back down for Topa as they really don't need three lefties. What concerns me is that the other two, Okert and Theilbar, haven't exactly been inspiring. But then again I don't need to nitpick what has been the best bullpen in baseball so far.

They arent counting on Topa, Okert, and Staumont. They're counting on Duran, Jax, Theilbar, and Stewart. If those guys are just average this bullpen is great
