  1. You do offer a compelling case. But Keirsey is the FO 2025 outfield defensive security blanket, whether he hits or not. Each year since the FO realized how exposed they are with an injured Buxton, they have had to have one. And Sadly, McCusker does not fill that role. Frankly, I have never understood the love affair with Bride. But McCusker cannot replace him, either. At best, McCusker is stuck unless we have another OF injury happen.
  2. I dunno. Seems to me we are overlooking Pat Winkels as an MLB option as soon as next season. But the time has definitely come to let go of Camargo.
  3. Let's put it this way......if the Red Sox wanted to straight up trade Wong for Cardenas, Winkels, or Gasper I feel the Twins are better off declining. While they may each have their shortcomings, they do to me each have a glimpse of a promise of contributing at the big league level. I am not convinced that is the case with Wong. Sorry, ex-Red Sox catching sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth right now. By the way, it should be noted that the Twins made a good call on letting go of Chris Williams, part time catcher who spent several seasons in Saint Paul. He has performed horribly for the Mets at Syracuse and is presently not active and on their "development list".
  4. Sigh. I looked at the premise of your question and rolled my eyes. Vasquez can't bunt. Hmmm, let's check that out. Oooops! He led the team with 5 sacrifices last year (although has yet to register his first one this year). Okay, maybe it's not such a terrible suggestion after all,,,,,,,and the pinch-hitting options don't move me to criticize the choice to send him up to the plate. All in all, a fair question to ask I guess. But, that does mean that somebody coming up after him would have to finish the task of getting the runner in. As it turned out, it really did not matter to bunt or not bunt......
  5. What are the odds of the Red Sox uncovering an injury of some kind and demanding their non-prospect infielder back? The connection to Moran is an interesting angle. I guess if the issues go back to August, it should not be irrelevant. Ultimately, it is good for all that he has moved on.
  6. And sort of right on cue, it is officially announced: Adams is replacing Funderburk today.
  7. Geez, how cool is it that there is not one single reference to a #5 starter, a high impact closer or serviceable left-handed reliever? I am not saying I know the solution to 1B and 3B which are, at this point, clearly the best opportunities for improvement (by the way, I am not accepting Bride as a solution of any kind anywhere). It is just refreshing that at this point of the season, pitching upgrades are nowhere on the priority list!
  8. over 29 innings while stringing out 33 I am hoping that you meant striking out 33. If not, what word did you intend to use after 33? Popcorn balls? Christmas lights? Maybe northerns or some other variety of fish?
  9. They would all get lost trying to find a place named Fort Meyers since it really doesn't exist.
  10. Ironic isn't it? I sure seemed like Alcala was getting screwed last season when he would basically do everything that the Twins asked of him and then would be sent down. This year is opposite.
  11. Yes. Let's take a lesson from history that this outside-the box thinking worked once (at least for the balance of a season) and send him to Fort Myers using whatever narrative that makes sense to explain it. But please, for the love of Abraham, stop calling it Fort Meyers.
  12. It is interesting to see how a thoughtful analysis of the future that Bride has with this team has partially evolved into a discussion about Royce Lewis' role. I consider Bride completely expendable. However, I also observed that even in his SSS rehab time in St Paul Lewis did not appear to be ready to come back and so far his return to the Twins has confirmed that....except......he appears to be okay defensively. Lewis' offensive contributions, going back to last fall already, are sadly reminiscent of Miranda's. Does Royce benefit of some time back to St Paul to try to figure it out? It is, of course heresy to suggest he has fallen that far. But, it may be (as others have suggested) a path by which Bride remains with the team.
  13. Outstanding analysis with some pretty logical conclusions, Matt. Let's hope that the Twins remain patient with his development and he can, in the long run, make an increased impact on the balance of this season.
  14. Randy Dobnak? Continues to remain on the 7 day IL.
  15. We get a chance to watch this team on Fox local broadcast stations tonight, think I'll throw and extra log or two in the fireplace and settle in to watch it!
  16. A lot of good suggestions for replacements above. However, it sure seems like something is messed up with Miranda's head and time in Saint Paul has not been the remedy. Julien is only slightly ahead of him. They each had their chance to start the season and have done nothing to show they are ready to return.
  17. It sure would have been nice if Emmanuel Rodriguez was healthy and lighting it up at Triple-A. So, an argument could be made that while it is disappointing to have Keirsey unable to hit his weight, he is doing what is asked of him defensively and as a pinch runner. Rodriguez would not be a good candidate for Keirsey's role. He needs to keep developing to play a much more vital role for this team when it is ready for him to show his potential. McCusker IS healthy and lighting it up at Triple-A. However, he has yet to get the attention of the right people to even place him on the 40 man roster........
  18. Sadly, this was actually an above average performance for each pitcher considering how the rest of the season has gone for them.......but give credit to the White Sox, they sure know how to do their part to make our team's horrible season pitching stats improve. If Correa is hurt, let's please stop pretending he is OK and give someone else a chance to make a positive contribution at short. God bless Luke Keaschall.
  19. Mike Ford was an easy cut from spring training. He looks pretty comfortable at AAA, though. A little disappointed to see all of the empty seats behind home plate in Saint Paul. Yes, it is still April in Minnesota and eventually summer arrives and school ends. It's just a little sad to see on the video coverage.
  20. Hey, you made a great call! I believe this corresponds exactly to Wallner's IL placement which opened up a spot on the 26 man roster.
  21. Keaschall has only played 7 games defensively this season, all at 2B. As long as Julien and Gasper are around, this would not be a move that helps cover this team's defensive needs. Jonah Bride has been acquired via trade with the Marlins for cash considerations. He is primarily a 3B but also has MLB experience at 2B and 1B. Miami DFA'd him after his 4 for 40 start to the season. Yup, he should fit right in on this team. Castro came out of the game today due to an injury. Correa did come in defensively and turned a nifty double play but did not have his lineup spot come up to the plate.
  22. Actually, Jeffers was asked in the TV post-game interview if Vasquez would likely start today's day game after a night game. Jeffers commented that "Christian is a bulldog" that cannot be counted out, but that Jeffers was advised before Tuesday's game that he would likely be starting Wednesday. Of course, many of us are wondering why Gasper is on the active roster, but his presence apparently allows them give Vasquez a chance to heal (along with the off day) without needing to make a roster move during this series. Fitzgerald and McCusker right now are heads and shoulders overperforming the rest of the Saint Paul roster and appearing to be candidates to promote if needed.
  23. Wow, what an elevated analysis and perfect video find. It is unfortunate that he has been relegated to shuttle rotation duty after showing so much promise and dominance on his way to the big club. The good news here is that a mistake made in letting Coulombe get away has been reversed and the Twins are not relying on Funderburk beyond the role that he plays. Although SSS so far it appears that Misiewicz (who really has an unimpressive body of big league work going back to 2020) may fit in well with this organization's bullpen usage as well. But hopefully Funderburk can sooner rather than later find the right pitch mix to improve his less than desirable performance against same handed hitters.
