This season is so much fun I can't even take it anymore.

Not much to tune in for these days… This was one of the very few things keeping me mildly interested.

But of course he is!  We can't have nice things this season.

Wouldn't expect anything different this season, unfortunately.

Season's over anyways, might as well avoid worsening this and just get it over with I guess. I am a little worried about Kirilloff's health since he had a wrist issue mess with his 2019 and now it happened again, but hopefully it's all good. Regardless, a big blow for watchability. On the bright side, now Sano can play every day these last 2 months so that we can know for sure if we should dump him in the offseason or not.

at least he showed he could be a quality bat in MLB before getting shut down? Looking at his July numbers, you'd have to think the injury is bothering him more and decided something needed to be done. Can't blame him in a lost season.

Sucks, but at this point I just want a healthy Kirilloff for 2022.

If this is a long term recovery thing, it makes perfect sense to deal with it now and be healthy for spring training.  No sense is putting him behind for next season at this point.

So in a lost season, here's what's going on with the Twins' top prospects. We've got Kiriloff, Jhoan Duran, Royce Lewis (remember him?) out for the year, an overmatched Trevor Larnach spiraling into obscurity, and Jordan Balazovic logging innings down in Wichita, with the best possible scenario being an unlikely September start.

Certainly not unexpected. They said when he came off the IL that it was a possibility but that he could play through it until the pain got bad again. I assume that's what happened, and they just decided now was a good time to get it done.

Hopefully, with the surgery he will be 100% come spring and can put this behind him.  I don't recall, did he also have surgery in 2019?  It was the same wrist, wasn't it?

In any case, I assume his season is over.

This sucks, but as Seth said it’s not a huge surprise. Just gotta hope his wrist holds up from now on. Now Kepler and Sano can go back to playing full time in their old roles, though I thought they might bring Rooker up to play some 1B. Perhaps he’s DH-only at this point.

My guess is Rooker is the call up when Cruz is traded.

Mid to late September return? I doubt they risk playing him the rest of the year.

I think it depends on Kirilloff. Sometimes these young guys heal and rehab faster than normal. If he’s ready to go in early September, they may as well put him on the roster, even if he doesn’t play every day.

Strib article says usually rehab is 8 weeks.

And cue posters coming out of woodwork bitching about soft Twins’ players.
