Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 I said in the 2019 thread that I would start this forum thread... Let's start populating it. big dog Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Nick Burdi is back playing??? Good for him!
EddieMatthews Provisional Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 It's good to see some of the younger prospects getting chances with other teams. A few years ago the Twins were the last uniform many players wore at end of career.
Dave Mona Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Graterol pitched a scoreless ninth for the Dodgers last night in their opener against the Giants.
bighat Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Eh, Jhoulys Chacin is considered a "former Twin" now? Okay, okay, it's relevant because he just got dropped. But I don't want to see him on this list next year!!! We've got standards around here. One guy that I'll keep my eye on is Jaylin Davis. Boy that trade still makes my blood boil.

Depends on who makes the list or who is updating comments... I also included Anibal Sanchez and Sean Gilmartin...
TouchEmAllGuy Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Stephen Gonsalves DFAd? sad, always wanted him to succeed. Hope he gets a shot somewhere else!
rickybeathard Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Graterol pitched a scoreless ninth for the Dodgers last night in their opener against the Giants. I watched that and was rooting for him. Sad that he's not a Twin anymore, dude has some velo.
bighat Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 I watched that and was rooting for him. Sad that he's not a Twin anymore, dude has some velo. There have been a couple big articles on Dodgers fan sites and the Yahoo Sports, etc about Brusdar the past week or so. The guy's going to become a household name. Still OK with the trade considering the Twins SP needs. You gotta trade away quality guys when you have no other internal options.
Teflon Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 in addition... former Twins and staff coaching, managing or working in the front offices for other MLB clubs: Ron Gardenhire - managing Detroit Derek Shelton - managing Pittsburgh Don Cooper - pitching coach for Chi Sox Mark Salas - bullpen catcher for Chi Sox (apparently the same Mark Salas from the 80's Twins.) Carl Willis - pitching coach for Cleveland Joe Vavra - hitting coach for Detroit Rick Anderson - pitching coach for Detroit Chris Speier - coaching staff of Astros Rusty Kuntz - first base coach for Kansas City Paul Sorrento - coaching staff for Los Angeles Angels Marcus Jensen - bullpen coach for Oakland Dave McKay - first base coach for Arizona Ron Washington - third base coach for Atlanta Mike Redmond - bench coach for Colorado James Rowson - bench coach for Miami Chili Davis - hitting coach for Mets Chip Hale - 3rd base coach for Washington Randy Bush - assistant GM for Chicago Cubs
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 The Cubs just signed Ryan LaMarre to a minor league contract. And now I can't quit thinking about going to QuikTrip:
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 in addition... former Twins and staff coaching, managing or working in the front offices for other MLB clubs: Ron Gardenhire - managing Detroit Ron Shelton - managing Pittsburgh... And by "Ron" Shelton, I think you mean "Derek," though Ron Shelton did turn his 512 minor league games into Bull Durham.
Teflon Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 And by "Ron" Shelton, I think you mean "Derek," though Ron Shelton did turn his 512 minor league games into Bull Durham. Yeah, the MLB Channel was showing it again last night.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Yeah, the MLB Channel was showing it again last night. And 512 probably also represents the number of times they've shown it this year. But on the bright side, they could have showed "Brewster's Millions" one more time.
Benchwarmerjim Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 NATIONAL LEAGUEPhilliesDeolis Guerra He made the roster but they cut Francisco Liriano
Teflon Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 A genetic replica of Taylor Rogers is pitching for the Giants. (And surrendered 4 runs in 2/3 of an inning last night. Ouch!)
Danchat Verified Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 I'm surprised Trevor Hildenberger didn't even make the Red Sox 60 man roster. Yikes.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 There are a couple guys on that list that I would like back, of course. But for the most part, none of them would probably make the 2020 Twins. And it's hard to truly regret someone like Hendricks as he really found himself at least a couple of years after he was already gone. Nobody had a clue Nick Anderson would do what he's done, but it would have been really nice to give him a shot before letting him go. Over the years, the Twins have also benefited by guys let go or traded away. So any lament is similarly shared by other teams as well. Pressly still hurts, so does Graterol and Escobar. But as highat stated, you have to trade away quality sometimes to get something back. But it is interesting to see lists like this. Thanks Seth!

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Rooting for Zach Granite. Surprised that with Aaron Hicks and Zach Granite, the Yankees didn't also get Denard Span to complete the trifecta.
Twodogs Verified Member Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Gonsalves I believe was signed by the Red Sox. Looking at their rotation, I think they might need him at some point during the season.
Twodogs Verified Member Posted July 27, 2020 Posted July 27, 2020 Chacin got the win for Atlanta yesterday. 3.2 innings 1 hit 54 pitches. Weird didn't Anibal Sanchez also go to Atlanta when the Twins cut him?
