Trade Deadline Discussion Thread

[tvagle]

Dodger fans are chatting up a dozier trade almost complete on twitter

Don't start that again

[rdehring]

Is this just a game of chicken at the deadline?  Dang I keep thinking they will trade Dozier but nothing yet.  This game of deal or no deal is killing me.

You know 'deal or no deal' is coming back.  They are filming right now in Orlando.  Or maybe it wrapped the end of last week.

Maybe the Doze is worth Sheffield after all

[mendozaline]

Can anyone remember this many trades at a deadline in recent memory?

[HrbekRules]

Great trade!

A dozen Dodger Dogs!

A dozen Dodger Dogs!

... and the tendon removed from Jose De Leon's arm

A dozen Dodger Dogs!

They can now rename them Dodger Dozier Dogs

The rumor from 1.5 years ago was true! Some deals just take a long time!

A dozen Dodger Dogs!

Random fact: I send my pigs to California meat packing plant in LA and they later become Dodger dogs at Dodger stadium. Farmer John if you want to look it up.

Wow, looks like there's just no market for Dozier. Lo, how the mighty have fallen. The market says no one really wants him.

you shoulda waited for this gem

Jerry Crasnick is reporting the same deal.

[Vanimal46]

I don't know the prospects but not excited to acquire Forsythe.

[slash129]

Forsythe = First player on revocable waivers tomorrow

[mendozaline]

Should've just kept him for that return...

[IndianaTwin]

He's a free agent after the season. If the Twins want him, they can get him then.

Sure, but that’s a rational explanation. Rationality doesn’t necessarily abound in the baseball world around July 31.

[redstorm]

Archer to the Pirates for Meadows, Glasnow, plus a third piece. Wow!

[Doomtints]

Nice upgrade for the Dodgers.

Twins ... um ... nice trade or whatever. But he's a FA anyway, so something is better than nothing. The return makes me think the Twins plan to pursue him in free agency.

Good luck to Brian with the Dodgers.

And thanks for some great moments.

[HrbekRules]

So, we take Forsythe off their hands, and the best prospect is #19.  I'm not real excited with this return.

[Don Walcott]

LoFo? To go with LoMo? . . .. MoFo.

[slash129]

Initial impressions:

Smeltzer looks like low grade org filler.  Raley looks OK, but doesn't scream building block.

[Battle ur tail off]

I'll be honest, I'm not excited about a single player brought back at the deadline. A bunch of C level prospects and residual type guys. I get it, who we traded really wasn't worth a heck of a lot and that is the main part of it.

I was hoping for at least one guy from all these trades though with some major upside. As it stands, there isn't a guy brought over that will make our top 20 prospect list, is there???

Not mad by any means though. All of the guys dealt had expiring deal, other than Pressly. My hope is that some of these guys they picked up will be used in a year or so to package up and bring some real talent in here...

[tvagle]

So Twins equivalent for Archer:

Berrios

Kiriloff

+

Besides, he didn't want to be here after the last series
