Hunter, Span, Plouffe, and Parmelee were all picked at #20 by the Twins.  So was Eric Milton was #20, but by the Yankees.  CC, Mike Mussina, and Adam Kennedy were also picked at #20.

Beautiful swing, good plate approach, plus power, plus hit tool, no defense and can't run.  Future DH, maybe LF if he's lucky.    

 

I saw him play in the 2015 WWBA where at the time he was talked about as an early first round pick before graduating HS early to enroll at Clemson.  Honestly, he was a better prospect at that point because scouts thought he would at least have average defense and average speed.  Now after two years at Clemson, both have taken significant steps backwards.  Still the bat has the potential to be special.

You can never go wrong with beer.

 

Interesting that the top four and five of the top six picks are large market clubs. If intentionally tanking big market clubs start getting the top picks while the small market teams at least try to win to salvage attendance income, and the big market teams also can quickly reload in free agency, there's going to be some huge inequality issues upcoming.

 

But maybe this is a one year fluke, not the beginning of a trend.

Player's drop, every year. Buehler, Hudson, Gibson, Alec Hanson, Kendell, Romero are just a few names that have been linked as top 10 draft guys who fell past 20 in recent drafts. The key is finding and developing a guy.
